mesial frontal lobe seizures

Hi, was wondering if anyone has or know anyone with mesial frontal lobe seizures.  If anyone does, what medication did they or you get.  The seizures are usually medication resistant and require surgery.

I am sorry I don't have any knowledge of this.  I do know we have had several members who have had the surgery and have been successful.  You might go back through the threads and looks for members who have had the surgery.  Sorry, I am doing the best I can until Darren returns.  I was only diagnosed myself about 18 months ago.

Crozier,

I just noticed that someone has posted that they have had a right temporal lobectomy and would be willing to talk to anyone who is considering having the surgery.  You might post there and get some information.

Hi there Crozier,

Brain surgery is a serious option no matter where it is. I would always be tempted to try convention medications prior to surgery unless there is a serious risk to life or disablement. I dont know much about it, but as far as I am aware, standard AED's can be used on MTL epilepsy. Carbamazepine, Lamictal, Sodium Valporate etc... Talk it through with an epileptologist if you have access to one, if not a neurologist.

I had asked about mesial frontal lobe seizures, because of a conversation about my symptoms. At this point I am not considering surgery. I am very fortunate to see both an epileptologist and a neurologist.  My neurologist sent me to epileptologist.  I still have a lot of questions though, I have only been diagnosised for 2 years. Sorry for not replying sooner, injury to my foot kept me down for a couple of days and then fell and now have an ankle injury. Should wrap myself in bubble wrap! (Had the flu and so seizure meds were off) Thanks for your advise. Have a great day.

Bubble wrap sounds like a good idea for you.  Don't forget to wrap your head!  :-)

I am confused mezial...spelling...blush. You got off of your meds. because of the flu? Did you not seize?

I was vomiting for 3 days straight. I had to go to hospital and doctors twice for fluids due to dehydration. So yes I was off my meds because I couldn't keep anything down. On the 4th day I started keeping fluids down but when I took anything harsh like meds they came back up. I have been known to have drop seizures, which I did have and I was having some partial seizures until I could get back on track with my meds. Consequently I had a few injuries, hence the need for bubble wrap. I take 2 types of seizure meds and when they get off track, so do my seizures.
