I am scared tonight. I think I just had a seizure, more than I've thought in the past year. I am still not sure if my spells are seizures, but I'm beginning to think they may be. I know my spells have been increasing in frequency and tonight I got a really nauseating feeling, felt like something was churning in my stomach (if you've ever been pregnant, it's the feeling you get when the baby is kicking), then the bad left sided head pain, and bam, my left eye stayed wide open and my right eye went shut and I couldn't control it. My husband said my eyes went really really glossy before it happened and started to roll a little during the spell, with my left arm twitching. My left leg twitched too. I could hear everything around me and I was able to understand but I couldn't communicate well at all. Now does that sound like a seizure??

OH, and another weird thing was I was giddy afterwards. I know my husband was looking at me funny because he was genuinely terrified of the whole ordeal while I was looking at him wanting to laugh. I kept thinking to myself, why the hell do I think this is so funny!

I have never found anyone who had seizures from hunger, lack of sleep and physical exercise before, but this is how I get seizures, too! Mine are just grand and petite mal I think. I don't know what happens to me in a grand mal, but I get varying degrees of brain malfunction if I don't eat or run around too much on an empty stomach... not to mention if I'm menstruating it's even more dangerous. I also have no idea where this comes from or why I have this screw up in my brain. I take tegretol xr and have been on it for over 20 years. (Gotta take a toll on the system!) I'd love to be off meds.

Hey! I also have suffered from grand mal seizures. Also dizzy spells especially around that time of the month. I strongly believe what you are experiencing are seizures. I also take tegretol xr cuz the regular one just don't help.  But the seizures that you experience during the period are called "catamenial seizures" I recently found this out months ago. I told my doctor I believe thats whats going on because it would effect me and my schooling. :( But good news is that I'm taking this medication called "Clonazepam" it helps a lot as far as the period thing. You should talk to your doctor and research it, if you haven't already. But when it comes to the sezuires that occur, unportaining to that, we just gotta give it our best shot. Hi,

I was diagnosed with epiplepsy at the age of 5 and usually when I am thrown into a seizure, its when ive been overheated(Overexertion in the hot sun/factories). Those are almost always petty-ma's(I think that's the name for them). But to me personally it sounds like your symptoms are more than seizures, I have never experienced uncontrollable extremedy movement. But usually after I have had a seizure I am fairly giddy.

yeah i think you'd call that a seizure, you should talk to your doctor about getting some guidlines for what constitutes a seizure, in hospital we have checklists, things like lip smacking, eye flickering, eye rolling, head turning are all considered seizures your doctor will probebly also be interested to know how long your seizures go for. you should definantly be seeing you doctor me thinks.
