Input re lamectil, trileptal, barbita etc. Meds, please?

Hello! I posted this question on another thread, so please bear with me. I've never chatted much and haven't quite got the hang.

I've recently been diagnosed w/complex partial seizures. I've had quite a few. My doc wants me to try lamectil. I am in the 2nd trimester of pregnancy, so birth defects are less of an issue than earlier. My mom is an RN, and she sees lots of patients w/epilepsy on lamectil. She hates the stuff. she hates most of them. Her feeling si that phenobarb, while addictive, has the least weirdo side effects. Your thoughts, here? How 'bout trileptal? Anything else seem to be working or not working for those of you with experience?

I've been on Lamictal before, not while pregnant but I was on it for about 2 years I believe. I got off of it because it wasn't controlling my seizures enough. The only problem I experienced with Lamictal is when I lost a lot of weight during my first year of college so the dosage ended up being to high so i was basically ODing slightly on the drugs. The side affects included nausea, vomiting, dizziness, and double vision but that was only because I was ODing. Otherwise I didn't have any side effects. I don't know what it does when your pregnant though.
