I was diagnosed with epilepsy nine years ago and I've had EEGs that my neurologist said showed epileptic activity. Now I've moved, and because I hadn't had any disruptive seizures I wasn't being treated. Over the past three weeks I've been having at least ten partial-complex seizures a day, sometimes more, and the neurologist here insists they're pseudoseizures. He says the fact that I'm depressed proves it's just a psychological problem, and I think I could accept that if it weren't for one thing--I wasn't depressed until this started. Yeah, I'm depressed and anxious almost constantly now, but I think anyone would be if they were experiencing this and no doctor would give them treatment.
Is there a way to be sure? I've been researching and seen that there are some symptoms, like whether your eyes are open or closed (mine stay open) and whether your sense of time is distorted (mine is) that can help figure out whether it's a seizure or pseudoseizure. On the other hand, doctors know what they're talking about... don't they? But I can't help feeling like he's just brushing it off, and I've tried counseling before with no success. Any ideas?
