Seizures almost every night

Hi,

Not sure what's going on. I was controlled for almost 3 yrs and only had break thru seizures when I had a bladder infection. Which from what I understand seems to be common causes for women.

Although, in the last 2 weeks I have had seizures almost every other day and some have been multiples.

My Valentine's dinner out last night ended abruptly with an instant migraine running into a seizure. Thank God I know my body well enough to recognize the signs and reactly quickly without questioning myself. The best advise my neurologist gave me years ago was "The first sign of feeling strange is the best indicator of all, even if you sneeze too much." My first seizure began with the taste of metal in the back of my throat and a coughing jag that eventually sent me face first onto the floor in a grand mal, 4 to be exact.

Any thoughts out there or anyone who's experience the same. I could use some insight.

So good that you do know your body so well! So sorry to hear how Valentines ended for you! Seizures sometimes sneak back in after years of control. I do not know your age (and would not ask) but I wonder if there are hormonal changes that might be affecting control? More stress creeping in? Diet changed a lot? Sleepis changing. Those are the normal things I can think of that can trigger them to come back after time of control. Sometimes meds work for a time and then need more tweaking or an add on to keep working for some people.


Hang in there. Sounds like you learned early on to listen to what your body is telling you!! That is great!

I'm sorry your seizures have come back. has anything changed in your life recently that would make things change? That's good that you have an aura before and can do something before you actually go into a seizure. I kind of had a relapse like you, well kinda- my first seizure was at age 8 but i didn't have another one till i was 12. Since then I've had a tonic clonic about every 6 months with an aura before- severe stomach pain. i hope your body keeps telling you when it's going to occur! I hope things get better!

Yes, my seizures are hormone related (catamenial) although these are not within the window of time when they would normally occur if I were uncontrolled. No diet changes, I eat very healthy and always have. Stress.... now that's a different story, have been dealing with a great deal with family (adult children issues). I have increased my Lamictal by 50 mg. So far no seizure tonight, hoping it stays that way.

things. This is the longest run of seizures I've had since I was first dx. It's really getting annoying. I'm having one around 7-7:30 pm every other night. Has anyone experienced major changes in the type of seizures. Mine have ranged from emotional/disconnectedness/confusion of place and time. Grand Mal, minor tremors to all out convulsions. Aura's range from nausea, headache, rapid heat rate, confusion and feeling like an out of body experience. Do any of these sound familiar? My neuro said that if you have one type of aura and style of seizure it usually stays that way. Well, mine certainly haven't which concerns me. Anyone else experienced this?

Hi everyone...I just joined tonight...I can definetly relate and am going through the same thing. Was recently diagnosed and thought my siez. were under control for short period of time then whammo----lots of seizures again.....stress definetly has triggered it for me....I  am dx CP in TP lobe lately have been having lots of sp's and aura's for me are deja vu's and migraine's as well. I have just been off work on med leave and am going on disability so lots of financial stress as well. It really sucks when your body does all kinds of things you don't understand and can not figure out.....nice to meet everyone!! Hang in there!! tongue Twilight!
