Medication & drug Lot #'s

Hi,

I'm still trying to figure out the reason why I had so many seizures last month. One about every other day. Somehow I can't imagine stress can screw up your body to that point, since I've had other times just as bad if not more stressful and this didn't happen. So, as always I'm calculating in my mind the cause/causes. Here's a thought....I refilled my perscription 2/7 and started having multiple seizures from that day on. With my Lamictal level dropping  from 10 to 4. I'm controlled at 10 and obviously uncontrolled at 4. I asked the Pharmasist if there could be a possibility that I may have gotten a batch (Lot #) with a lesser component make up. He said there is always that possibility and had me exchange what I have for a new batch.

Has anyone encountered this? Would be interested in your story.

Thanks for responding. To answer your question about lot #, it's the # on each bottle the Pharmacist receives from the company that distributes the meds. He may order 20 bottles of Lamictal and each bottle has it's own lot #. Rx's are filled from as many bottles or total pills he has on hand. They would have to record those #'s some how to know which lot your Rx was filled from or if it was a mixed lot. It's similar to lot #'s on yarn, wallpaper, etc. Pharmacist said that it's standard procedure at the company that produces the drugs to check every 10th pill for correct potency, etc. He said he hasn't had a recall on Lamictal, but there is a possibility there was a problem and that's why he was happy to exchange the meds. So, as of the night meds were exchanged......NO SEIZURES!!! I'm going to keep a close watch and if this is the case I'll report it to the Pharmacist so he can notify the appropriate people.
