Jimmy Cee,
Are you on any medication? because that can bring on all kinds of bad side effects.
I'm not a medical person but I think I can answer your questions based on 33 years of Epilepsy.
I've attached some of my previous posts, hope this might answer some of your questions.
Hi from Ontario for everybody reading this post.
I've had epilepsy since 1979, controlled by meds.
I get a form of petit mal seizures that my Dr. calls "speech arrest". It only lasts a few seconds, I am aware of what is going on around me but I can't respond.
When I try to talk, my speech is slurred (more than usual).
Most people have no problem speaking but I have to concentrate to form every word. (all the time but twice as hard during a speech arrest).
Everybody thinks I'm stoned all the time.
Boy, I didn't realize that we take our speech for granted so much.
1. Do simple partial seizures several times per year (e.g. 10-15 times in a year) lead to longer term memory damage? The reading I have done seems to suggest it is complex seizures that cause the real damage, and I don’t get those.
A-#1- This usually doesn't cause "long term memory loss" or damage. It shouldn't change at all unless your seizure condition changes.
2. Should I be concerned about anything else developing (Alzheimer’s, schizophrenia), and if so would treatment help prevent this?
A~#2 - I have done previous research on this very topic and also posed this question on several epilepsy boards in the past and found that there is no written documentation to prove this theory.
3. How often, if ever, would someone who has had simple partial TLE seizures for decades develop complex seizures?
A ~ Q#3 - Can't answer this b/c each case is so different.
4. Does a condition like this worsen with time/age?
A ~ Q#4 - Like everything else in your body, as you age, it will probably get a little worse. The best way to slow it's progress is a good diet and excercise
5. Is there anything else I should worry about?
A ~ #5 - Can't say for sure, it varries with each individual.
