Possibility of two types of seizures in the same person?

Hi all,

I am just wondering if there is a possibility that a person can have two types of seizures. I was diagnosed with Complex Partial Seizures several years ago after trying for 3 years to get someone to listen to me. Actually had several neurologists tell me i was making it up and then found a seizure specialist.

Anyway, there are times when my husband notices the seizures but not always as they are hard to catch unless you are constantly watching me. I will stare off in to space and he says I can be somewhat responsive but only one or two word responses. He also says they generally last 1-3 minutes. I'm always tired afterwards and end up sleeping sometimes 12 hours. I was in an accident that was caused by a seizure. A cop saw the accident and said I slammed on my brakes but I have no memory of it or of the following 2 blocks later when I suddenly saw the police lights in my mirror. Argued with the guy until I noticed everything was on the floor of my truck.

Other times, I have these feelings of sudden fear, a feeling of a sudden hot flash, nausea and usually have to go to the bathroom after. I am always aware during these but I still feel "disconnected". I've usually ended with it causing me some anxiety and taking an anxiety pill after. I have not noticed a gap in time with this like I do with the other type of seizure.

I have never been prone to anxiety attacks but I do have some problems with being in cars and out of the house hence the pills to try to get me past these fears. I developed them after the seizure.

Is there a possibility that someone could have both Simple and Complex seizures? Not always occurring at the same time.

I have 3 types of seizures; grand mal, petit mal, and partial onset. Like you, I searched for years to find someone to listen. I even had a neurologist make mistakes on several tests. I finally found someone who looked deeper and said I have these 3 types. I will sometimes respond to someone like I'm on auto-pilot and not remember anything. I now take 3 different meds. They offered a "neuro-stimulator" to be implanted and send an electrical pulse to the "Vagus nerve" to help but I didn't want any more hardware in my body. As for driving, it's not safe until your dr says so. I hate not being able to drive, even though I feel fine at the moment. You never know when it will happen. Be careful and talk to your dr.
