I'm new with lots of questions

Hi, I don't have a lot of knowledge about epilepsy except I think a friend of mine has this and he is refusing to go to a doctor because he is self-employed and must drive for his job. He thinks they will take his license away if he goes to a doctor for this.

Any advice? He has had four seizures that I know of (0ver a period of 4-5 years maybe). I can't remember the name exactly but something partial I believe, not a grand mal, but definitely a loss of consciousness for 30-60 seconds maybe. I found a website that described what he does and it fit perfectly. I am worried about him driving but he says he "always has advance notice" and that if he's driving he would have enough time to pull over?

Can anyone address this issue? Someone else told him that one seizure is enough to yank his license. Is it possible that he always knows when one is coming on? Thanks! I'm looking forward to hearing from you.

Yes, a seizure can make them pull a license depending on the state law as well as what happens. If he has any warning, or if seizures are in sleep they might make a different allowance....

More importantly.....he KNOWS he has had some "questionable episodes".......IF he has one behind the wheel, how will he feel if he kills someone? He will still be help liable and, if they can show he was aware of this condition and did not do anything to prevent them, but continued driving, the charges could be more serious....

he needs to get help. Just in case their is another answer. ADA should help his work find alternatives for him if he has to drive. Is there another way he can work in that company for a time? they provide someone to drive him? I know it is so hard, but he needs to be checked out. It might be something else, but loss of consciousness really needs checking...
