Hi, I started to write to you yesterday, but my response was too influenced by my opposition to legalization of marijuana. Realizing that I was not sufficiently informed, I withheld my post.
Without overly coloring my post with my views, I can tell you that the Epilepsy Foundation has a stated position on Cannabis in terms of being used to control seizures. (i.e. they advocate further research not limited by state borders).
www.epilepsy.com/article/2014/2/epilepsy-foundation-calls-increased-medical-marijuana-access-and-researchwww.epilepsy.com/Be advised that cannabis is not without side effects, some which can be substantial, and uniformity of therapeutic levels in the blood is often essential to prevent seizures. Medications produced by pharmaceutical companies have fairly rigid levels of compliance (tolerance from one batch to another) and are free of contaminants, substances obtained from non-pharmaceutical means may not have these assurances.
I'd consider contacting the Epilepsy Foundation for more information and be certain any actions taken are cleared with your doctor.
Also, when searching for more information, add NIH to the search line, it'll give you articles at the National Institutes of Health, and there were indeed articles supporting same.
Best of health to you and your family.
