Video eeg monitor?

I posted a few months back...i'm usually found on the lupus forum as I have an overlap of connective tissue diseases. I also have what have been thought to be partial complex seizures. They may or may not be part of the whole autoimmune thing I have going on. We are looking into that now.

I had a sleep study last month due to overwhelming fatigue for the past several months. it was recommended that I see a neuro specializing in sleep disorders based on fragmented, inefficient sleep, some hypopneas mostly during REM sleep thus reducing REM sleep time.

I initially took carbitrol, but was switched to keppra due to elevated liver enzymes. I take 3000mg/day. for the past two months, i have a 2-3 back to back days of "mini" seizures. They are mini in the sense that all of the elements of my aura are present; I don't think I lose contact with the environment altho I don't react to it.

based on the sensitivity I seem to have to several different drugs, the sleep disorder results, major memory "blanks", the other meds I take for the connective tissue disease, the dr. is scheduling me for a stay in the video/eeg monitoring unit. Hopefully this will shed some light on what is going on and if it is all related in some way.

Does anyone have any experience and advice for me on how to best "enjoy" my little get-a-way? Thanks!

Video EEG is my speciality I guess you can say.
I have been throught 5 brain surgeries amd EEG monitoring is nothing.
You are just hooked up to the EEG the entire time you stay in the hospital
and you are video taped the entire time. Unless you go outside the video
range.
There is nothing to it. Just take some things with you that will keep
you busy during the day. Reading, crafts, anything you like to do.
You will spend the day in bed so they can see your every move along
the lines of brain activity. And because you have Epilepsy they
won't want you out of bed much because they want to catch as much
as possible while being hooked up.
I make a joke about the EEG monitoring. I am hooked up to a wall
and the only way out is to unplug me. Which you will find to be true.
Oh and before I forget. You can only wear button up PJ's.
Because of the cords you have to have buttom up. You won't get the
other ones on. You won't have a problem with the pants though. Just
the tops.
EEG monitoring is nothing. Since having 5 brain surgeries and being in a nd out
of the hospital I am used to it. There nothing to worry about.
Until after it is over and you have to try and get all that glue out of your
hair. That is always the fun part. :)
Good Luck with everything. I will be going intot he hospital myself
in March to have EEG monitoring. So not to worry.
