My daughter is seizure free.

My daughter had temporal lobe seizures for over 10 years. She has never been on medication for it, but she was diagnosed by a doctor, and had an EEG which showed epileptic discharges in her left brain. 6 months ago, out of curiosity, she looked up the ingredient listed on the packages of chewing gum and almost all breath mints. Each package is required to say "Contains...." I think the ingredient starts with phyl... or something like that. The site she found said this substance can cause seizures, even in people not predisposed to seizures. She immediately stopped chewing gum, and chose a breath mint that does not contain this substance. It took about 3 weeks for her seizures to completely stop, and she has now been seizure free for over 5 months. She used to have several seizures each day. Someone needs to say something. I don't get on the internet much, and it was like pulling teeth to get registered for this site (my computer is so slow). Can someone help get the word out? This is ridiculous--over 10 years of seizures because of chewing gum and breath mints! I'm sure not everyone has seizures for this reason, but obviously some do. If stopping chewing gum and breath mints works for someone else, I hope they will help get the word out. Like I say, I'm not much for chatting on the internet, and I don't have any additional info, but I had to say something.
