anyone refer me to support groups

I am 59 & have had epilepsy since age 16, both grand mal & petit mal .
I am taking 4 meds- phenobarbital, dilantin, lamictal, keppra.

My doctor does not seem to know much about older patients with epilepsy.. I need to know where I can go to get reliable info on this subject.

I am also very stressed because am taking care of an elderly husband with more health problems I can name- can anyone refer me to support groups?

I would change docs to a doc who would listen to you more. I know now I have a neurologist who doesn't seem to concerned about my well being either. GRRRRRRRR. I have petit mal or absent seizures. I also have a whole host of other probs. I cannot imagine at this point in my life taking care of hubby who has health concerns. My two boys(three iffin u count my hubby..lol)stress me out enuff. Grandma 88 and Kota,

Do either of you live near a teaching hospital (university) where they might have a neurological department? My neurologist is at Vanderbilt University and he is excellent. The first time I was in-patient, it felt a little weird being in a room when six or eight doctors made rounds, but they all report back to your doctor and it can be amazing some of the little things they can pick up on. I've only been seen by the interns and residents when I have been in the hospital for tests, the rest of the time I see my regular neurologist.

If you can find a teaching hospital hospital, I would highly recommend it or at least find a neurologist who will listen. Epilepsy is an important issue for you and you need someone who cares enough to listen and take your health care seriously.
