Welcome Summerct!  I too am on Lyrica but I just take a 50 mg. pill at night before I go to bed.  I was supposed to increase it until it helped my pain, but I took one at night and it has helped so much and I'm sleeping better too, so that's all I plan to take for right now.  I was a little bit loopy for the first day or two but it leveled out.  I think it was a miracle drug for me but I read about a lot of people on this site that it hasn't helped.  It works differently for different people.

Hi Lisa, we are experiencing the same side effect. The first day I took my Lyrica, I did not need wings or an airplane, I was just flying solo all on my own! Whew was I high, but like you, I didn't care, I was pain free! Now it has been many weeks for me being on the Lyrica, and I am sort of fine tuning it to myself, but also following dr.'s orders as well. I don't take near what I am "allowed" to take. Here is what I do, and I do realize not everyone can do this. I do not work outside of the home, so it is do-able for me. I take my 75 of Lyrica around 4:00pm, that way I am not too groggy (that has worn off a lot) and if I do get a bit "loopy," well I am just at home getting dinner ready, eating, going for a walk, etc. Then at bedtime, I am very calm by that point and I sleep like a baby. I wake up a bit groggy still in the morning, but not half as much as when I was taking it at 8:00-9:00 at night!!
So if there is anyway you could pop your Lyrica earlier, perhaps that would take away some of your morning grogginess!!
The other day I was out and about and could not take my pill until 7:00 at night, well the next morning, I was a zombie for quite some time, so taking it around 4:00ish has really helped me out.

one of my best friends lives in Connecticut and she tells me she is experiencing the same heatwave we are up here in Ontario! Phew, it is toasty!!

Hi Lisa and Welcome!
I can't offer any advice on Lyrica, but it has been good for me to read this as my Dr. would like me to try it. I did pick the prescription up but have not started. My rheumy wanted me to start Ultram but when I saw my Dr. she said that it states to use extreme caution if taking Ultram and an SSRI- which is the Zoloft that I take. Won't be trying Ultram needless to say!
Hope you can figure out the time of day to take it with less grogginess in the morning, because it sounds like you are getting relief from the pain. And we are all for that!

I just want to let you all know that I am feeling much better. It was a tough few days with the dizziness. Taking the Lyrica earlier in the day didn't help enough. I tried taking my cymbalta with the lyrica and without. It works better to take the lyrica in the afternoon and the cymbalta in the morning. The doctor lowered my dose to 50 mg. It seems to be better. I will keep you posted. Thank you all so much.

Lisa, I'm glad that you are feeling a little better.  I'm also happy to see that your doctor will work with you!  That's one of the hardest parts of fibro!  Have an even better day!

Lisa, your photography is lovely!  I, too, love animals and have feral cats that have all their shots and are spayed and neutered.  They are house cats now.  Roary lived with me for 2 1/2 years before he would allow me to pet him.  Now he jumps up on the bed the first thing in the morning to rub up against me and for me to pet him.  He loves to be held.  He really is a lover.

 

I bet you get an "A" for your wonderful pictures!

Thsoe are great pictures! I especially love the one with the glass on the table. You should also submit the one with the duck in the bucket. I liek the way the light shines on the water. I love photography too, but I've never taken classes... maybe one day :)

Lisa, I thought I had welcomed you but didn't see a post from me. Maybe it was on another thread, who knows with fibrofog. Anyway, welcome.

 

You have quite the family. Lots to practice photography on. I love animals but need some classes on photography to take pictures the way mine turn out. I think the most awesome picture I have taken is a mama grizzly and her two cubs in Yellowstone a few years ago. I used 75-300 lense on my 33 mm camera. I was quite proud of myself when I blew it up and didn't cut off anyone's head or anything like I usually do.

Sorry for being late with the welcome wagon, but when you're as painful as I am, the wagon gets a little hard to push around.    This is a great place to get info, share your story, or just come and vent.  Seriously, there are some people here that I feel closer to than my own family.  Why?  Because my family doesn't understand or even want to understand fibro.  In simpler terms, they don't get it.  The people here get it.

 

Anyway, welcome again to the fibro family.  BTW-you're the 2nd person I've "met" from CT in about 2 months.  That's weird.  Or, maybe I'm weird.  Yeah, definitely the latter.
