I've been lurking for a week and decided it was time to come out. Dx'd with fibro last December. My doctor put me on Cymbalta (first 30mg, now 60mg once a day), Flexeril, and Tramadol. I'm not getting much relief from any of it. Like all of you, I have good days and bad days, tend to overdo it on the good days and end up regretting it.

Not much of an introduction, but I'm looking forward to being part of the group. I feel blessed to have found you.

Hi, Nancy, and welcome!  I'm so glad you decided to join in.  Since you have been reading posts, you can see that there is a great group of people here that give good idea and advice to help you live a full and enjoyable life.  If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask.  Someone usually has experience in that area.

 

Be sure to check out the Fibro 101 thread.  It's the second thread on the forum.  There are links in it to some really good information about fibromyalgia.  Meanwhile, read and join in!  I hope to hear more from you soon.

Hi Nancy and glad you joined our Fingertip family. This forum has been a godsend for me in the past year. The accumulative knowledge on here is amazing. You probably have seen we like to laugh too, we have to find the good in everything. Read, ask questions and vent when you need to and we will be here for you.

 

I've got two docs trying to get me to try cymbalta, did you have any side affects from it???

I think it is wonderful that you joined in as a member. You can learn a lot about fibro here. The members are so kind and compassionate and they really do care about eachother. We have a lot of fun here and I am sure that you will be glad that you joined.

Nancy Welcome!

I am fairly new to the forum to and I can say everyone has been absolutely wonderful.  You will find a lot of information and support for this wonderful group.  I haven't found what medicine works best yet but I have had some luck with prozac and pamelor.  I'm taking low doses and the pain is less but I'm not really open to increasing them because of weight gain. 

I think it helps to have someone to talk to and this is a great place to be!

It's pretty common for you to try several med's before you find real relief...and some never do...but don't give up trying. Any time we can help you or just be a shoulder to cry or lean on, just speak up. That's what we are all about.

I'm a NEWBIE too! but I really love the idea of being able to share with people who can understand - the idea of being anonymos helps too - because we don't have to be afraid that someone will pity us or think we are nuts!

From what I can tell Every "Body" is different. I have been DX since 1988 and it has always taken time to get the right balance of foods, vitamins, and meds. Don't forget, the disease (yes, I dare to call it what it is) changes over time so you always need to be ready to roll with the punches. My best advise: get the very best medical team you can find and then make them talk to each other!
