Iodine and FM

I just met a lady last week who also has FM. (another forum). Her dr. told her she needs iodine supplements.  Is this unique to each person or common in FM?  Of course, one should always check with the dr. before starting supplements.

For those with low thyroid (hypothyroidism) be VERY careful about taking iodine!!! I had an experience last year that took almost a year to correct. Two angiograms, well one was angioplasty and at both had dye injected (iodine) and from that, it caused my TSH to go through the roof, so it took almost a year to normalize, changing my dose of Synthroid...what a mess...I don't know if taking iodine would do the same thing, but as Luvsminis said, we should always check before taking anything.

Duh, I thought MT stood for mountain, hehehe. Oh, my poor little brain.

 

I've not heard of taking iodine so it must be unique to that person. Besides taking a daily multi vitamin you don't want to add anything without doc's okay.

You may be right- MT could stand for mountain or Montana!  Guess I have 'Medical Transcription' stuck in my brain since I'm taking the course!!
