Hi Sera,
I did try acupuncture and it was combined with another technique, can't think of the name right now. This method he used was: He placed a heating pad for 20 minutes on my back, then took it off, and did the acupuncture for 30 mins, then removed the needles, which by the way, did NOT hurt. But, this other technique he did, that REALLY hurt. He was working on tender points, trying to loosen up the muscles. He succeeded. So, I don't know if it was the acupuncture or this other technique, or the combination of the two. I went to him for 8 weeks, two to three times a week at a cost of $70 per session, only to find out my insurance does NOT cover it, so I stopped going. I did find that he was able to "loosen up" the tight muscles, but again, I found it painful, and then afterwards, I was quite tender for at least a day, and then I felt better, only to go back again and start all over again!! I think I'm a glutton for punishment ... I never did try the acupuncture by itself. I do a lot of reading on fibro and have read a lot of good about it for fibro. Good Luck to you, Sera!
