Anyone get sore throats???

For about the past week I've been getting these weird sore throats. Okay, my throat is very dry and if I talk a lot it gets sore (don't even think about it Sherrine devil )  this is very sore on the inside but it also feels tender on the outside. Can't tell if it is glands or muscles. The pain comes and goes.

 

Just wanted to check on here before I make an app with ENT doc.  I know sore throats and swollen glands are part of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome.

I get sore throats and recently ear aches. I had my ears checked yesterday, and throat, because the pain was so severe and I didn't want to miss something like an ear infection by writing off the pain as another weird fm/cfs symptom. My ears are fine, no fluid, no redness. Sooo... just another weird fm/cfs symptom. The lymph nodes in my neck, front and back, are also very tender all the time.

Your body may be fighting something off.  With Chronic Fatigue, you don't have the tender points.  But, you could have both CFS and fibro...lucky you.  mad   

 

I know I get sore throats occasionally.  I think I'm going to come down with a cold, but they go away.  My throat feels dry and scratchy.  I now think it's the changes in pressure so there is drainage in my throat, even though I don't seem to have that since there is no mucous.  Makes sense to me!  redface

 

But, drink lots of water and try giving your throat a rest. (Ken will love me for that suggestion!  devil )

Hi hhh and welcome to our family. I have had tenderness under my chin for a long time. I thought it was fibro tender points??? Where are your's??? Who knows with this stuff.

 

I'm glad you joined us. Make sure you read fibro 101, the second thread on the first page. There is a lot of great info on there. There is also Who's Who where you can tell us about yourself if you like. We love getting to know people on here. tongue

 

The best way to learn is to read the threads. There is a ton of help on this forum and you never feel alone with all this. Ask questions and vent when you need to.

Thanks Marlee! I will definitly do that. it's great to be on an active forum. I was on another fm forum that was very, very slow. This will be a great source of info and support for me.

Hi, hhh, and welcome!  I meant to welcome you on the post to Marlee but I forgot!  tongue    I love fibro, don't you?  LOL

 

I just bumped up the thread called "Who's Who in the Land of Fibrofog".  You can find it easily now.  As Marlee said, be sure to check ouf the Fibro 101 thread, too.  There are links to great information for you.

You just couldn't let it be could you Sherrine, no self control  devil ??? I thought about the drainage thing but I don't think it is that. I hope it goes away. I consume a great deal of liquids. With fibro and MPS how would I even know if I had CFS??? tongue

 

That made no sense to me if you don't have drainage. devil

My doctor could see it, Smarty Pants Marlee!  He told me it was drainage even though I wasn't coughing or anything.  My throat just felt dry and scratchy.  So there!  tongue

A sore throat usually means that chronic fatigue is setting in. I stop and rest as much as possible. If I do not, I will be wiped out in no time.

Good morning Sherrine & Marlee,(and everyone else)

My throat is scratchy at times, but I have more pain on the outside of my throat, around my glands and around my thyroid. I think I am losing my voice though. Everytime I say anything, my husband yells, what? I kept telling him that it is his hearing, but now my sons also are yelling, What? I feel like I am almost screaming, my voice always has had a tendency to get hoarse, but now it is fading away. Maybe I talk too much! yeah

Ihave my 2 year old grandaughter coming momentarily. I keep her 3-4 days a week. I'll be online later.

Bev, my DH tells me I don't talk loud enough. I think it is just his hearing. Maybe we just don't have the energy to even talk anymore.

 

I'm so glad you explained that to me Sherrine. yeah With the sjogrens what mucus I have is very thick.

 

I have an app with rheumy the 21st so I will have him to check it out.

From what I've read Bev about the only difference is sore throat and swollen glands. I have soreness in my neck but don't know if it is muscles or glands. Fatigue is one of my biggest problems so I'm not sure I would even know if I have CFS along with the fibro and MPS.

 

John has CFS maybe he can add something about it for us.

I read somewhere that having alot of nausea meant CFS. I started with pain only added extreme nausea and this spring started feeling so tired tired tired all the time. I keep my 2 yr old grandaughter to keep my mind off the pain. I've found that focusing my mind on something else works wonders with me. Last summer I was able to keep 4 of my grandchildren, this year I only have energy to keep the youngest. I can do one major household task daily or go to the grocery store, but if I don't follow my limits I pay for it with a couple of weeks in bed.

 

I go to the rheumatologist on the 18th, I'll ask him, though usually I have to search and find my own answers. I get the feeling that he isn't into fibro or CFS, mainly he knows arthritis which I don't have. I've complained to my PCP, but so far she hasn't sent me any where else.

 

Have you ever felt that your fibro came from being stressed so often that your body froze in that position? With your heart pounding, your muscles tensed, unable to eat or sleep,you know what I mean. Sometimes I feel that eventually I won't be able to move at all. That is what keeps me moving...but now I am so tired that sometimes even taking that next breath is an effort.

 

Any suggestions? I see that some of the ladies take Ritalin or Adderall, does that help? I really hate the thought of taking anymore meds.

Hi Marlee! I'll see if I can add anything to this.......yes, recurrent sore throats/glands are among the symptoms of CFS but could also be symptoms of CEBV (Chronic Epstein-Barr Virus). EBV is very common......most people have been exposed to it at one time or another in their lives.....many develop mono and some don't develop anything at all but indicators of EBV may still show up in blood samples. CEBV is like having recurring mono/flu like symptoms for sustained periods....for some reason the virus stays in your body and reactivates time and time again and shows up in EBV blood tests. The main problem is, there are so many conditions & diseases that have overlapping/similar symptoms that specialized blood tests are necessary to diagnose or eliminate them from consideration.

I added a post yesterday about my latest rheumy visit and blood test results so check that out if you haven't already. I sure hope this info helps at least a little.

Since I have CFS and CEBV along with the Fibro, I just spin the wheel and wherever the "clicker" stops, that's what I have that day!! (LOL)

Hello,

I also have CFS and Fibro and i feel the difference, when my cfs acts up all i want to do is sit and stare and sleep, i have no interest in anything at all. My throat is sore also and i hurt like heck today, this whole summer has really been bad for me and my pcp is gone till the middle of the month.

I hope that having a sore throat is not the start of CFS as the last time i lost 5 weeks of work and this happens about every 6 months that i get a really bad case.

HI..I am totally new to this cummunity. I have had FMS for 2.5 yrs. In that time I have also been Dx w/ Sjogrens Syndrome, Connective Tissue Disease, Carpul tunnel, Arthritis, Degenerative Disk Disease. I am just looking for a place to be able to share and learn. I was looking for a chat room but a,m haivng trouble locating one. I too have a swollen throat and pain in my left ear. As usual...the Dr can't find a reason. I see a Chiropractor 2x's a week but last appt I ended up with a large bruise on my lower back...I have s small bruises on my stomache also...is this common?

Hi Betta,

I am also new here and am looking for those that are having the same problems that i have and from what i have come across here are very caring people that know just what i feel when say what i am going thru.

I finally feel that i fit in as no one else knows what it is like to hurt all the time even on your better days. My biggest problem is that my family(Mother,Brothers and my one Sister) say there is nothing wrong with me, I finally had to say to myself that what they think is their prblem not mine.

So, together we will help each other out with whatever problems we are having today. Brainfog is really bad today and my eyes are giving me trouble because i am typing in black and i see some letter are red, i guess i better get to bed.

Chronic fatigue causes your joints to ache also. In fact everything aces. I find it a different type of exhaustion and achiness from fibro. I can fell the difference between the 2.

i dont know if i have CFS or not i am dx with fibro. i do have sore throats, but mainly on the inside not the glands, thank God, thats sounds painful. Mine is more like sherinnes, drainage. I do get a lot of hoarseness too, where when i talk it real raspy and people cant understand me eaither,it comes and goes. I do alos have the disc degenerating diseae and severe arthrits, I too can do only one major household a day, iof only i would get, relunctly my husband finnall helped me, just hinking im lazy, he doesnt realize how much pain i am in. My legs go numb, so do my arms, and feel weakness, grocery shopping almost kills me. Especially whem no ones home to help me carry them up the staris and put them away. I feel useless much of the time. A strong enough pain does help get something doen with out pain, but onlyone thing and thats its, i always keep the laundry and dishes done liveing rroom vaccumed, but the kitchen sufferes, i try, but with two kids not helping only making messes it very hard. Some times i do feel like i have CFS i am am tired much of the the time i can sleep from 7pm to 7am no problem i am that tired i go to bed at 7.

Anyways just chiming in and i guess venting a little, my computer has had no internet for two weeks so im raring to post. welcome all new ones, it is very fast paced here at HW. keep on posting.....
