confused   Does anyone else get sore spots that feel like a bruise and are so sore to touch, but there is nothing there just a really sore area that feels like you got hit by something? No bruises, no red marks, no lumps or anything? I have been noticing lately that I am starting to get more of these. They go away after a few days. Or is it just part of the Fibro journey?

yes! i get them everywhere. arms, legs, stomach, back....

mine sometimes feel hot to the touch too. strange. i have no idea why i get them tho. i would like to know so maybe i can do something to make them go away!

Hi alicat71, thanks for your reply. I really am at a loss as to what these are, maybe a nutritional defeceincy or something. I will have to talk with my Doc next visit. I had to increse my Lasix AND my presription Potassium (not over the counter potassium) I was wondering if maybe that could be it. Since my heart attacks they have noticed my potassium tries to stay low anyway (before i started taking lasix or any other kind of "water pills".) Who knows? *sighs*

Thanks again and i hope you get relief also. I am wondering also, if these 'sore spots' are going to get worse?! shocked Yikes, I hope not.

Actually, my whole body feels like one giant bruise. sad    You can't touch me anywhere.  And, OMG, if you were just playing and poked me? nono   It takes everything inside of me not to slap the crap out of you.  BTW-don't worry, I'm not violent-just painful.  Usually when people do that, I just scream-both from pain and at the person (and then I have to apologize and explain why I acted that way). eyes

 

So, in much simpler terms-LOL :-)   yes, I get that kind of pain. sad

tongue  Hey Kelly71...hope you are feeling well today. I am ok....Those sore spots really are painful, but thank goodness mine go away after a few days....omg, if anyone was to either playfully punch or hurt me on purpose, I am sure that IF and after I got up off the floor I would let em have it....pow! right in the kissah!  lol

Hi all.  I also get these sore spots.  I tried explaining them to my hubby, but he just didn't get it.  Oh well.

  They are very painful, and I expect to see a bruise show up.  I always think that maybe I ran into something and forgot.  I do that alot.

Do you mean the 18 tender points where they push to dx you for fibro???

Hey Marlee,

These sore areas that pop up are not in those tender spots the doc pummeled on(It felt like it anyways) The last one I had popped up on the side of my upper arm.I also thought at first that I had again bumped into something . I was in the shower and when I washed my arm I almost  shrieked.When i got out I looked into the mirror trying to find a bruise, I just knew i had to have one with the amount of pain, but there was not a mark of any kind.

I have these as well. I have read something about them, trying to remember what and where I read this, I'll give it some thought. They just emerge, no bruising, just extreme pain at the touch. They do move around, I find them on the tops of my shins quite often. They are different from the tender spots that the doc feels. I have those, of course- before I was Dx my husband used to give me backrubs and when he would hit one of those, I would screech and he would feel so bad, but he was hardly touching me at all.

I get those wonderful spots too!  I almost always have one but they move around.  I'm always waiting for the bruise to show up too, it rarely comes.  I do run into a lot of things so no suprise that I would be expecting a bruise.  Fibro does keep you wondering!

I get them, too.  Interestingly, sometimes they burn and/or itch.  It's like there's a small bundle of nerves going out of control.

Mine do travel, as well.  Another fibro mystery!

I get those too but I'm not sure if they are fibromyalgia but I think they are

Yep I get that. I also get something worse where I'll feel like I sprained something and it's really painful. Both of those situations can last anywhere from a couple of minutes to a few days. It really sucks because I have no way of knowing which bit of my body is going to suffer next.

Do you all feel knots in the muscles where these sore spots are??? These are quite common. Some come and go and some come and stay for me. Try using acupressure on them, put a couple of fingers on the spot where it hurts the worse and put some pressure on it for several seconds. We get knots in the muscles and toxins accumulate in them.

Yes! I called them lumps. The way I described them to my Rheumy was: It feels like someone punched me there in this spot. Mine was on my upper arm.

And in the back of my neck. OMG those hurt so bad. No amount of massage makes them go away. Of course this is the site of an old whiplash injury. I get a combination of soreness and then a stiff headache feeling that makes me want to reach for the tylenol. Oh what fun :(

No not knots, thats whats so perplexing, there is absolutely nothing except pain in a very limited small area. I cannot bear to even touch them. Then all of a sudden they are gone! I have had PT on my neck, shoulder and back due to a crumbling cervical fusion between C5-C6 and the PT would find and work out those knots that held all those toxins, kind of like popping a really big hard zit deep and under your skin, which she called 'trigger" spots not the 'tender" spots.Those treatments really helped me alot.

Hi! Do you actually have lumps or does it just 'feel' like you have lumps? Mine 'feel' like there should be a lump or something there, but nothing.
and omg carolyn, those in the back of your neck is suchn agony. Because of my inury to my neck, when my neck flares up, those headaches feel like someone has actually reached their hand under my skin at the base of my neck and are pulling my brain and all my muscles back as tight as can be.Wow.

Yep, that is fibro Breath. I had a little wreck last Nov and my neck is still a mess. The more they do to try and fix it the worse it gets so I have a 'hands off rule' for my neck.

 

When I have massage therapy for those knots, not heard it described as popping a zit before, it leaves me feeling bad for days from the toxins. It doesn't matter how much water I drink afterwards.

 

My back is covered with them, outside of arms and outside of thighs.

 

I'm a knotty old woman. smilewinkgrin
