I am currently on Tramadol (that I take 3X a day) & I have an appointment with a doctor that is a good distance away from my home (I do not like driving/riding on freeways-I get anxiety attacks).

Is it ok to take a .25 Xanax in between the Tramadol? I would need to take the Xanax to ride to the doctor, but I don't want to be in pain either.

Help?!?

I would i call your pharmacist...you can also google a drug interaction search, but i think it's best to consult a professional in these instances.  better safe than sorry

Are you driving or riding? If you are just riding, it would probably be okay. But I would ask the doctor or pharmacist anyway.

Please ask your pharmacist but I have taken both with no problems. I had a horrible time with anxiety and driving for several years but I kept driving and telling myself that anxiety wasn't going to take my freedom away from me. nono When I would start having the physical symptoms of the anxiety I would tell myself that is all it is a physical symptom to fear, which it is. Anxiety causes physical symptoms and physical symptoms cause more anxiety til your in a full blown panic attack if you let it continue. I wish you luck cause that is one of the greatest things I have ever overcome so far and I'm so glad I didn't let anxiety win. tongue Now I'm trying to take the same mind over matter approach with fibro cause it ain't going to win either. I have a life to live and this DD is getting in my way.

 

I love it when I get in the "I am woman hear me roar" mood. smilewinkgrin

Hi Mominmich2! Please be careful when taking any kind of med with relaxant/sedation properties when driving. Many terrible accidents have happened while "under the influence".......falling asleep, lack of concentration, poor reaction/reflexes, etc.....all things you probably don't realize are happening to you. Valium took me real close to a couple of possible life-altering incidents before I realized that IT, the valium, was causing me to experience those things mentioned above without even knowing or realizing it! The last close call, the closest call of all, snapped me out of the daze and turned on the light!

Thanks all.

I am NOT driving, my sister is driving me as I can not drive on freeways. I need the Xanax to even ride in the car on a freeway.

I am not too concerned about taking the Xanax (it's self) because I have taken it in the past & it is a very low dose. I was merly looking for any experience with taking Tramadol a few hours before the Xanax. I do know that you need to be careful with relaxants & pain meds but Tramadol is non-narcodic & I currently take it with my Ambien (as prescribed by my Rhum.) without issue.
