Karen's family needs our prayers

Karen's, aka gettingby, nephew is brain dead from a self inflicted gunshot wound. They will be taking him off life support after the family has said their goodbyes. Her family needs our prayers to get through this.

Hey you guys,

Thanks so much for your support. I really need this now. I haven't heard anything as of yet today. But expect a call to find out about funeral arrangements. This is such a devistating situation. I am still kind os numb. But sure this will sink in soon. I keep wishing this is some bad joke and that he will be pulling in the yard as he always did. But now he will be with his mom. She died when he was 16 to a long fight with breast cancer.

Thanks again for caring. This really did lift my spirits. I might be off for a couple of days, tnough the forum does take my mind off of things, so that is hard to say. But if I take a small break, I will be bakc as soon as I feel better.

Karen, nothing I can say will ease your pain, your shock, your disbelief, etc., but please know my thoughts, my prayers and my request that you and your family are held safely right now are with you. How tragic, that is all I keep thinking. Bless you for looking on the bright side that your nephew is now with his mom, you actually comforted ME by saying that!

Bless you and all of your family through this tragic time.

I'm so sorry to hear about your loss. Don't worry about rushing back here, or spend as much time here as you like. Right now it's important for you to take care of you and yours any way that you can, and that you see fit. Take any amount of time that you need and remember that there are people here who care about you. You and I may not know each other very well but you have my deepest sympathies and my best hopes.

Karen, I am so terribly sorry for your loss. You know you and your family are in my prayers. Yes, it is devastating. The loss of any young person is just so wrong. If you need us we will be here, if you need to be by yourself or w/ your family, do that. This is the part of 'virtual' that bothers me, I wish I could give you a hug. I will send it along to you, along w/ my prayers.

Sometimes the only way to look at this is he is out of his pain and he's w/ his mother. My cousin's son did this a few yrs. ago and my cousin (my Partner in Crime) was so rocked by this. While trying to find something to hold on to, she said, At least he is out of his pain.

Again , I'm so sorry - you have my deepest sympathy.

Karen, I'm so sorry to hear about your nephew.  I know what you must be going through.  My two stepson's mother did the same thing when they were teenagers and when it happened they questioned "why"?  We never know what's in someone's mind and why they felt so helpless to do such a thing. 

 

My thoughts and prayers are with you and I pray that God will give you the strength to face the future. 


Know that we are all here for you anytime you need us.

I too am very sorry Karen. Many of you know I lost my oldest son, 23 at the time, a few years ago...and it was the same way. The blessing was that he never suffered, but the loss is devastating either way.

Please know that he is at peace now. But he got to the point where the pain to stay was greater than the pain of leaving. Most often these young people suffer from depression that is often undetected or undiagnosed. Try hard as a family to not accept any blame...there most likely was nothing you could have done. He knew you loved him and that's what counts.

Feel free to email any time and I'll be in touch. There is lots of help for those left behind. I was stubborn and tried to go it on my own. Not a good idea. Please know you are loved!
