fianlly got to see Doc!!?? NOT

I finally got to my appointment after a month of pain. Come to find out when I got there I was seeing a nurse practitioner. I went to the local health clinic since I have no insurance. I was thinking oh great is this gonna be a waste of time?! To my surprise she was great......unfortunatley does not know much about fibro but said after we rule everything else out she'd refer me to a specialist. She's checking my thyroid, but seems to think I might have osteoarhtritis. She did give me some precriptions.

Trazodone

Flexeril and 800 mg ibuprofen 5x a day

Well let me tell you I slept last night!! Woo hoo!!! 1st good nights sleep in a month. I still woke up with pain and stiffness. But I was so happy to have slept.

Anyone else take these and how do they work for you? So I go back in 2 weeks and move on from there, hoping I'm on the road to better sleep and at least a little less pain.

Hi Melissa and welcome to the family!

I think you found a really good NP......she sounds very thorough and eager to help you despite her lack of knowledge and experience. We don't always get that even from well-seasoned doctors or experienced specialists. The very fact that she is willing to test to "rule things out" and then refer you to a specialist if need be is reason enough for optimism that you're starting on the right track. Ibuprofen works well for my pains but I haven't tried the other two so I'm not much help there, I'm afraid! You hang in there and give her a chance.....you sound like you're off to a pretty good start to a dx!

I have taken fexeril it gives me worse leg pain A friend takes andtold me to cut the dose in half I have not done that yet

Hello Sheeba,

It is great to hear that you are on your way to getting a diagnosis. It does take a long time because of having to rule everything else out. And it can at times get quite frustrating.

I use to take flexeril but now I take soma. The flexeril made me too sleepy. But sleep is what you are striving for (and less pain of course) so that works out for you.
