I just wanted to remind us to be gentle to ourselves. If you are like me, you are your own worst critic and can sometimes be very hard on yourself.
I've been through many "stages" of fibro. A couple of years ago, I was doing very well. I was mall-walking, and I went on a vacation that was pretty physically demanding.
Last year, I had a very tough year. I had some other health problems that were acting up, and those, combined with the fibromyalgia made it pretty difficult to function. Some days, I did well to walk across the room.
This year, I'm doing better. I've even begun "mall walking" again (just a little).
I guess I just want to remind us to be careful how we view ourselves. Of course, we should always try to do our best to take care of ourselves and gently "push" ourselves to do what we need to do and what we want to do.
But, if the most we can do on any given day is just take a shower or go get the mail or read a book, congratulations. We are still part of this world. We are worthwhile, valuable human beings who just happen to have some physical limitations.
Again, while I think we should all strive to do what we can do, I also think we should be careful not to compare ourselves to others (I usually find myself coming up short ).
We should be just as kind and compassionate to ourselves as we would be to someone else.
Hugs -
