Memory foam mattress cover

HOLY SMACKERS!!! I found a cure for my lower back pain!  My mom has a 3 inch thick, memory foam mattress cover. She gave it to me a few days ago because my back is in such hideous horrible pain. We thought, what the heck, let's try it and see what happens. 

 

Well, I woke up this morning for the first time in a year, with no back pain!  I was able to get out of bed, and stand up straight with no stiffness or pain!  I was shocked. I actually had a really good sleep last night too. 

 

If you can get your hands on one of these (and they're not expensive), I'd recommend it!  I feel like doing the "happy dance"!

I bought a fiber bed cover a few months ago, it's 3" high. My DH and I have very bad backs and this has made a difference. We were hopeful, but not optimistic, but it has been such a nice surprise. I still don't sleep thru the night, but it is so much more comfortable on my back. My DH used to get up to sleep on the couch, now he sleeps in the bed. I haven't smelled anything odd about it, and my sense of smell is always ON. They had a sale at Linens N Things so we got it for under $100. They are going out of business, so they are selling off stock, this might be the time to check for bedding and such.

I bought a 3" foam mattress toper at Overstock.com for about $100 when my mattress needed replacing and we couldn't afford a new one. I thought, what the heck, I'll give it a try. I too experienced immediate relief. Three years later (a couple months ago) I replaced it with another also around $100 from Overstock. This time, the offer included 2 foam pillows also. They're great too! There is a chemical smell, but it goes away fairly quickly (a day or two). Believe me, it is worth it. I just feel craddled in comfort. It supports your entire body and gives so much relief to tender points. No back pain in the morning either.

I'm lucky, I guess, in that I have a colleague at work who also has Fibro. We're constantly comparing symptoms and sharing tips. She has extremly senstive allergies and her face turns red the minute anyone sprays cleaners in our office (Windex, Pledge, etc). I shared the info about the mattress topper but shared my worry that the smell might be intolerable for her. I brought one of the foam pillows for her to take home and try. She loved it and is going to purchase a topper for her bed.

I love being able to share info that helps her. I strongly recommend this product.

I also bought a memory foam topper last year. It did have a chemical smell for a week or two. It seems to help. I think next I will buy a memory foam mattress.

I bought a one and half inch memory foam mattress cover from Target for $60 and took it with me on vacation. It came with a nice fleecy zippered cover which I washed before using, and I let the foam pad air out for a couple days before we packed it back up and left (it did have an odor when I first opened it up). I have a keen sense of smell and am bothered by things other people don't even notice. Plus, I know that off-gassing just isn't healthy. Anyway - I never noticed a smell at all while using it and it was a tremendous help for my fibro and bad back while traveling and having to sleep on different beds. I would highly recommend one! I bought one for my son's girlfriend to take when they go camping as she has some fibro problems as well, and she was amazed at the difference it makes. I bought the twin size in the 1 1/2 inch simply because it was less bulky for travel. For use at home - I'd go for full size in the 2-3 inch depth - and will, when the new mattress at home becomes less comfy.

I'm still "mostly" pain free since sleeping on the memory foam.  I have used a memory foam pillow for years for my bad neck. Why I never thought to use one on the bed is beyond me! 

 

I don't notice the bad smell, but I didn't get it new.  It's my mom's so it might have had a bad odour, it doesn't now. 

 

I just love how it cradles the entire body!
