Thank you all for so many responses to my thread.
Donnaeil, I sure do envy you and your access to a pool. That is something I would love to do, but I don't know where in this one horse town to get to an open swimming pool. Even if there was, I don't drive and my hubby already has enough to do without taking me to a pool. Guess I'll just stick to my bike, stretching and yoga.
Diane, perhaps you are trying to do exercises that are just to strenous for you until you build up some stamina. Try starting out slower with gentle stretching and maybe some yoga or pilates. I have a dvd where you sit down and do the yoga(since I can't stand) and it is very gentle. They even tell you on there that if you feel tired or sore, take a break and rejoin when you feel like it.
Marlee, yes, you should get out that treadmill and dust it off, then of course you have to use it. When I was able to walk, using my treadmill was my favorite exercise. I would put on a headset, turn on my mp3 which has nothing but Bee Gees music, close my eyes and get lost in another place for an hour. It was kind of like when I used to ride a motorcycle, nothing else in the world mattered except what I was doing, it was like being free of all my troubles. For me, the treadmill was like a form of bio feedback, something I taught myself to do.
Karen, what you said is so funny because I used to do the same thing. When I could get outside to walk I would walk anywhere from 2-5 miles a day. When no one was home and I was running around doing chores I would crank up the music and dance while I worked. Good thing nobody could see me doing that.
Mamanan, my heavens you do have your plate full, so many responsibilities. Can't anybody help you around the house? Maybe mop those floor and a couple of the loads of laundry. Remember how good you said you did feel when you exercised? I know that it's not easy, but sometimes we have to put ourselves first, do what is best for us and then we are better able to take care of those who depend on us. Just a tip, when I was as busy as you, the crock pot saved me a lot of time and work. It's so easy just to throw everything in the pot in the morning and let it cook all day. I used to think everything, like meat had to be thawed first, which took time, but the fact is, it cooks better if you throw it in there frozen.
Keep up the good work everybody!
