Your baby is 10 months old and is nursing 5-6 times a night? Sounds like he needs more solid food to "hold" him. I bottle-fed my children and the pediatrician had me start my children on rice cereal and pears when they were 2 weeks old! I also would put a little cereal in their final bottle of the night. It was thin enough to go throught the nipple but it gave them enough nourishment that they didn't wake up hungry.
I know there is a different school of thought out there now, but my children were sleeping through the night by the time they were 4 months old! They are all healthy, intelligent children so the early solid food didn't hurt a bit.
I don't know how you can function getting up and breast feeding so many times a night! I think I'd talk to the pediatrician about that. Just my humble opinion.
