confused  I have yet another lovely symptom and thought I would run in by you wonderful folks! I have had the worst stabbing pains in my feet for the last two days and can't stand it! I have had a bad flare lately as the weather is changing, but this is something new and it is awful. I slept 3 hours last night because I was having these pains and even the vicodin I took (which I hate taking) didn't help. Has anyone had this experience? Any suggestions? I haven't done anything besides the regular yoga classes and walking and I just can't stand it. I have noticed an increased amount of aching everywhere including my hands and fingers and this is my first cold season, so I don't know what to expect. Thanks !

Sorry you are going through this Sheri :( I hope you get to feeling better. . . I know this chronic/acute pains and aches are enought to drive a person mad at times :) Good luck!!! Have you tries soaking your feet in a sitz bath? I bought a generic whirlpool bath at Wal-Mart a few years ago and it is a lifesaver :)

Sheri there are a lot of threads on feet problems if put "foot pain" in the custom search box below the yellow line. A lot of people have different kinds of foot pain.

 

Mine is in my hands since the weather has gotten cooler and it is miserable. Have you ever tried lidoderm patches??? They help my hands some but it's not taking all the pain away. TENS helps some too.

 

Hope it goes away soon, sounds like you might be having a flare.

Sheri, I have one foot that aches like a toothache.  Do you have any swelling?  I have tried heat and ice but if I just leave it alone it seems to do the best.  When it aches at night I take two extra strength Tylenol and that helps me get to sleep.

I have horrible foot pain.  Usually during a weather change or extreme stress, I get "knots" in the bottoms of my feet.  They not only hurt, but it feels like I am walking on marbles.  It is terrible!  I wish I knew what caused this, because I for one would avoid it!

Thanks for all the responses girls. I have always had some aches in my legs, arms, lower back,hands and feet, but this is more like a stabbing. They are sharp pains in the arch of my feet. It is hard because I don't know what to expect. Of course, I have learned that this condition still can take many people by surprise who have had it for years. I have been told that once the temps get down to where they are going to be and stay there, I will feel better. I sure hope so. I was doing much better until cold weather hit. I think I am going to bring up the TENS unit at my appt in a week. I have been thinking about that for a while thanks to all the good info on this site. I have not heard of the Lidoderm patches. Would this also be a presciption? I will take some Tylenol tonight to see if that helps. Thanks for all the input.

I have the sharp pains in my feet...it last about 2-3 seconds and then quits.  I also have the worst burning in my feet.  The lyrica has helped alot with both of those.  It (from what my rhummy told me ) is a nerve pain and no kind of reg pain killers will help it.  But like I said the Lyrica has helped some with it.

For the last week or so my hands and feet have really hurt.  I keep thinking it has to be arthritis.  I'll be walking along and feel an electifying stab in a foot that stops me in my tracks.  I do feel a change in my system and it's my second winter as I was diagnosed in Dec of 07.  Last night I had this tremendous stabbing in my right jaw into the upper and lower teeth as well as into my ear.  It really felt like the whole side of my head.  I simply grabbed it and waited for it to pass, but it's like the pain I feel in any place at any time.  I think my hands and feet suffer because I over use them... typing, writing, phones etc. most of the day.  I too take cymbalta and tremodol.  It doesn't really help, but I do wonder what I'd be like if I wasn't taking anything shocked    I did have better days at work when I'd take half of my clanazopam, a tremadol each morning, but the muscle relaxer made me so tired and slow.  Oh... is your fog worse also?  Oh my gosh!  I can't find the glasses on my face, the safeway I have gone to for years or the patient chart in front of me.  It really scares me!  That and the pain... it's awful.

It is called fibro foot. You can look it up on the net. I have had it also but I exercise a lot and have not felt the pains for over a year.

Oh my goodness! I could not imagine these sharp pains in my jaw! The thought gives me the goosebumps! Yes, I do feel a change in my system, but I really thought it was because of winter coming. It took me 3 months to use up a presciption of tramadol from August to October and now I am taking 400mg a day. I hate how it makes me feel. I just drag. I have also noticed the fog has worsened also. I can't remember what something is called ot how to spell a word. My hand and feet are the worst also. My mother also mentioned to me that she wonders if I have some arthritis. UGH! My doctor increased my Cymbalta from 60mg to 120mg and talk about headaches!! It didn't help with the pain so I am back down to 60mg. I hate this and I am tired of living in the bathtub or under the heating blanket! I am starting on Malic Acid/Magnesium tonight when my husband gets home. I know many of you have said this is helpful. Thanks again everyone.

I, too suffer from foot pain. I have thought it was nerve damage from cervical spinal cord compression.

I cannot imagine walking for exercise as when I spend even the time it takes me to complete my SuperWalmart shopping, I'm in pain.

I have found that my running shoes do seem to help a bit, at least perhaps by minimizing the impact when I am walking, and thereby lessening the amount of pain I experience.

Lyrica and Cymbalta did not agree with me. I am in the process of titrating down on Effexor, so that we can try Gabapentin. We increased my Tramadol, and I agree with one of the previous posters here: it leaves me quite groggy and not interested in being productive doing anything but sleep, and would not trust myself to do any office business.

I was diagnosed in April after a difficult winter involving a slip and fall on ice in January. This is my first fall/winter post-diagnosis. So far, the flare I'm experience is everything it's been built up to be, and so much more.

I'm going to look into the Lidoderm patches for my feet - thanks for the info.

I would love to have an illness that is cut and dry. here is thr daignosis and this is what you do for it. I hate never knowing what is around the corner and if it is fibro related or not. I guess that is why we have this wonderful forum. To come and share and learn from each other and support one another. I am now laying in my bed simply exhausted and my feet have stabbing pains every 2-3 minutes. I am not liking the beginning of this night. Take care, Sheri

i've had terrible foot pain, especially when getting out of bed ~ they feel like the bones are crunching together and seem to crackle. this would ease of within an hour or so of getting mobile. since i started taking cymbalta in september, this has improved alot. they still hurt, but it's bearable.

I have foot pain too. It started a few years ago with plantar fastitis (I know that's not right, but I can't remember how it's spelled, lol). Now it's more in just my left foot, all on the top and through the foot, it feels liek cramping pain. If I've been sitting for a bit, I hobble liek an old lady for the first few steps. I also can't sit back on my feet, which makes being on the floor with the baby difficult at times.

Hi All!

I just wanted to post an update. I did some reading on Fibro Feet and it sure sounds like I have it. I started wearing shoes around the house instead of just socks or slippers and I did start the malic acid / magnesium  and I am still having an awful flare right now, but no more sharp pains! I am not sure if the shoes or the new supplements have anything to do with it, but I am just glad it has subsided for now. I hope the other aches calm down now. Yes. Every blue moon.. I would get a stabbing knife pain for a few seconds in my feet.. I use to actually yell out the words ***? because it would come out of know where.
