Okay here is a good question

hi there donnaeil. ok. I am freezing,brrr, ALL of the time so the heater is always set to 76-77 inside and I am in sweats and a robe with a heating pad most of the time. (ok, I wear clothes in public but when I hit the back door off they come and I'm in non-public clothes) lol I wear a jacket outside or layer if the temp is even in the low 70's outside. I hate the air conditioner on even in the cars and I have to have the seat warmers on. I used to be tolerant to cold weather and hardly wore a coat in the winter until I got ill. My tolerance for cold now is a zero and I refuse to suffer and be cold. (makes me flare big-time) My family is used to sweating :) and they have been really good about my cold intolerance. Our gas bill will just reflect what I saved on electricity during the summer because I barely used the air conditioner. (even when it was 98 degrees plus out) I have to have weather over 80 degrees and it might have to do ith the fact that I have a very low body temp all of the time and low blood pressure. I'm not sure. I hate winter....

I can't stand to be too hot or too cold. Kind of like Goldilocks. But in the winter, I like a warm house. In the summer I like it cooler. So it has to be just right. LOL...

I have found it's more comfortable, not just for me but for my family also, to have a cooler home and add layers. What feels cool to me feels normal to DH and DDs, and if I try to turn the heat up to where it feels normal to me, they complain of melting, lol! Of course, sometimes mama nature gets nasty, and throws me in the opposite direction. There are times when it feels like it's 90 degrees in here, but my family is shivering together. It's the same way at work. When my coworkers claim they are freezing, I'm sitting with my fan on and dying to get home so I can change into a tee and shorts. But most of the time I feel cold when everyone else feels warm, so I layer it up.

In the morning I am usually sweating, so I like my PJ bottoms and a tank top. As the day progresses the layers come on, I can't get warm. I don't mind wearign my jeans, but I do like track pants hte best. With lots of layers. I often do my stretches at night just so I can get warmer, then I add a heavy sweater, plus wrap myslef in a throw. I'm thinking of asking for an electric blanket for Christmas. Ideally, I would liek the house at about 22 (probably warmer than most of my family woudl like) but not too hot, so I can always take off a layer if I ever get warmed up. Funny how in hte summer the inside temp can be cooler than that, and I'm still too hot.

It all depends on the moment Donnaeil. We pretty much live in our family room so I have a heater in here to keep the temp to my liking without turning the whole house up and down all the time. I dress in soft clothes most of the time. If I'm going somewhere important I will put jeans on. I've been dressing in layers since peri-menopause. I wear robes a lot over my PJs or sweats in the house. I also have several fleece sweatshirts. I can go from freezing with heater on to throwing clothes off and turning fan on in one minute, it's crazy. For the most part I am cold blooded and most people that come into our family room think it is hot all the time. My DH does not like wearing many clothes in the house so it works for us.

I would prefer to be someplace warm in the cold weather, but since that's not happening anytime soon, I dress in layers. I have on my socks, sneakers, jeans, tank top, cotton shirt and sweatshirt. My family, DH and 3 adult children like the house to be cooler. My DD wears shorts & t-shirt around the house. I shake just looking at her. lol! They all like a fan on them at night, I burrow under flannel sheets, thermal blanket and 2 quilts. My nose sticks out, barely, so I can breathe. As I write this, my hands are ice cold. The temp in my house is 70, it feels like 40's to me, but my body temp always runs low. If I sit on the sofa, I have the heating pad on and an afghan my DM made wrapped around me.

Every place I have ever worked, the other ppl were overheating, while I was freezing. They would wear a sweater and I would be bundled up like Nanook. I have cashiered in winter gloves. I hate winter, and we didn't even get there yet.   Hope you're all comfortable tonight.

Because of the strange sensations I get against my skin when I wear clothing, especially my legs, I would prefer to crank the heat to whatever temperature it is in the southern tip of hell and wear nothing.  But because the thermostat doesn't go that high, I sit infront of the wood stove in about three layers.  I still am cold a lot of the time, no matter what the room temp is.  I drive my son nuts because he sweats like a pig when he comes to visit after work!

I really don't like the feel of clothes on most of my body. I would wear a tank and shorts--no shoes all year if I could. I hate to wear socks and shoes, long pants, anything with sleeves or a collar. I do crank the heat up sometimes, because I just can't wear very many layers. A sweatshirt and long pants and one pair of socks. But my feet are still cold, as is my nose and my fingers. I can't wear gloves and a nose-warmer in the house! Diane

I've always been the type of person who would rather be cold than hot.  When you are cold, you can put more clothes on, and when you are hot, well....you get the picture.

 

Anyway, when it's cold outside, I like to wear pajama pants and a T-shirt.  Then, I either snuggle under the covers of the bed, or under a down comforter my mom keeps in the den.  OMG-those things are so soft!  I even put one on my bed.  Also, if my feet are cold, I wear these slipper socks my mom got me last year.  Usually, my feet get too hot and I end up taking them off in my sleep.  Actually, I end up taking the left one off and leaving the right one on.  So, when I get up in the AM, I'm walking around with one slipper sock on.  I have no idea why I do this, but I've been doing it for over 10 years.  OK, yeah, I'm weird.

Like Almom, I prefer close fitted clothing. I thought I was just buying things to small and did not realize that big clothes annoyed me. Boy is that good to know.

Like some of you I can go from hot to cold in no time flat. HOwever, I have not had any hot flashes, thank goodness, even though I am in menopause.

I like the heat in my home to bet between 76 and 80 in the winter. In the summer I like air conditioning.

If it gets to hot around here, I will turn on my air conditioner in the dead of winter. lol. This is because I like to sleep in a cold room.

There is always a heating pad near by and I never use ice to relieve my pain. I do not like bras, period.
However, I purchased one in a larger size last month and it is working out well.

Now, pool temperatures are another story. I like them around 86 degrees but that is just not possible in a public pool. every day I ease myself into the water hoping that it is at least 85 degrees. Most swimmers prefer 78 - 80 or so, not me. People who have arthritis like warmth. However, like me they still enter the pool regardless of the temp.

Imagine shivering for half an hour before you get warm enough in water. Other people will think it is comfy but my inner fibro thermometer does not. Oh well, I get in the water daily anyway. Once in the relief my body feels in the water makes it all worth it.

I like my swimming suits tight. I wsh I had the body to go with them though.

Glad to know others like to dress 'comfortably' in their own homes. I too love heat from a woodstove. We have a furnace/heat pump system for the house but with the woodstove going it doesn't come on but on rare occasion in the winter and to cool when we get those occasional hot summer days. I've heated with wood for so many years than it's easy to keep the house a constant temperature...just a way of life...toss in a really dry log if it's hard to get coals built up or a heavy one and damp it down for the night. It's an even and deep kind of heat.

And for the clothes...sweats, big t-shirt and sox. If I need more then I prefer one of hubby's flannel shirts to snuggle in, especially when he's not home. Makes me less lonesome. ;-) But here's the problem...here I/we are dressing comfortable in our own homes. NO bra, T-shirt, and sweats. ok?? Then someone shows up at the door. Now, for some gals it might not be an issue but for some of us...um, me included...what's under the T-shirt is not necessarily attractive and the shape shows through. Since the advent of gravity, women past their child bearing years seem to be in a losing battle and those body parts that were previously more um...perky?.. have headed south toward the waist ~ some being successful. Now, under a t-shirt it's pretty obvious that you're not in the running for T-Shirt Model of the Year. What do you do if someone knocks on the door? ARGGGGG

When it comes to family...they've been warned. You've come to see me, I'll be clothed and very respectable but may sag here and there...mostly there. For others I keep a large shirt or light jacket handy so I can grab it on the way to the door. Layers, ladies, layers! For the most part this works but sometimes it's a bit embarassing if I don't know company has pulled in. Clothes hurt, especially a bra and my comfort comes before someone else's embarrassment over how and where my 'curves' are. Oh dear! lol...
