Had to have my Dalmatian and Black Lab put to sleep. Both of my dear dogs were about 15 and full of arthritis. We have daughter's dog and a 1 yr old Lab puppy... Daughter & son-in-law are going thru foreclosure... Will probably be moving in by Christmas. Couldn't have the older dogs around my toddler granddaughter. Sure hope there is a heaven for animals. I"m so sad and hurt so much right now. Can't sleep, too many worries. Pray for us, ok?

Jeannie...my heart goes out to our and yes, there is a place in heaven for our pets.  They are an extension of us.  I also have a Dalmation and a Lab.  The dalmation is 17 and is very perky and alert except she developed this horrible cough.  Took her to the vet yesterday and she is in congestive heart failure.  Because she is can still outwalk me, the vet put her on Lasix and something else I can't pronounce and we'll see.  Just remember...

It is never easy to say goodbye to our four-legged children.  I know this from experience.  My heart goes out to you.

So sorry to hear that...Sounds like you have several issues going on at once AND the holidays are coming. As they say "when it rains..." Please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers(for comfort, peace, & strength). I also believe that there is a place in heaven for our pets. They give us a piece of heaven while they are here with us. Please remember to take care of yourself during this time of transition...

Jeannie-

I'm so sorry for the loss of your "dear dogs."

This saying was in a card I received when I lost a pet and it is one of my favorite.

They are gone from out sight...but never our memory. Gone from our hearing....but never our hearts. Gone from our touch....but their presence is felt. And the love that they gave us never departs.

Be gentle on yourself and know we're here for you.

I'm so sorry that you had to put your dogs down.  I do believe there is a heaven for our precious pets. God is great, why would he not include our most loved friends and family.  You are going through a rough time but everything will be ok.  Sometimes we just don't see the bigger picture, the plan God has for us because it is clouded by stress and pain.  Everything will be ok and you will have precious time with your daughter, SIL, and granddaughter, they need you and you will be rewarded for it :-) .

Jeannie I'm so sorry. I can't imagine losing two at the same time. The vet told us the day we had Brandy put to sleep if there are no dogs in heaven he doesn't want to go. I like to think Brandy is in heaven aggravating Michael to play ball with her like she did when they were both young.

 

I know this is a very hard time for you right now with so many changes and loses and I will pray that all this works out and you will become one big happy family but only temporary til the kids get on their feet again.

 

I know it would be hard on me if any of mine had to move home. We do what we have to do but it's not always easy.

 

Try to find the positives in this, your daughter is walking Jeannie.

My dear Jeannie,

I am so sorry that you had to have your dogs put to sleep. But it was probably the right thing to do due to the circumstances. And Yes, I do believe there is a place in Heaven for our pets. I have had many, so I hope to see them all one day.

My friend has a dalmation/lab mix. She is the cutest thing, she is built like a lab but has many spots on her. Her front legs are grey speckled and it looks like she is wearing socks. She is a hoot.

I know that you are going to have a happy Thanksgiving with all your family there. I am so happy that your daughter is doing so much better. Enjoy your time together.

Jeannie,

I am so sorry you are going through this. It is never easy to say good-bye to our friends when the time comes. They are part of the family and not a day goes by that they aren't missed. I read this poem a few years ago when I had to put our 14 yr. old poodle to sleep. I thought it was nice.

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Jeannie, I am so sorry about you having to put your beloved 'puppies' down, it is never an easy decision. I have had to do it several times, it never gets any easier. I personally believe that our loving pets go to Heaven, I hope  to be a good enough person here on earth that I may see all my babies someday.

A very dear friend told me something yrs ago that I've held on to till I get my bearings. Just put one foot in front of the other, till you find your balance. Trust in God that He will walk w/ you to keep you steady. I know this is a rough time all around for your family, but right now try to focus on the positives, your DD is making tremendous progress, you will have your darling GD close by to enjoy and cuddle. Make yourself a cup of tea and try to calm yourself down. You are a strong woman w/ a loving family, you will get thru this - and you always have us for venting. Give yourself time to grieve and heal from your losses. Nobody gets over that in a day. Try to get some rest. You are in my prayers.

Jeannie...those of us who have had and lost our darling animal friends know your pain and grieve with you. They are like children in our families and so hard to let go of. Please know that I care deeply that you are in pain and will say extra prayers to help mend your heart.

Focus on the fun memories. Maybe make a memory book of pictures with grandkids or hubby..maybe even your daughter. Sometimes that is a wonderful way to work through your feelings...remembering the good.

sorry for your loss, jeannie. we had to make the same decision this spring with our 17yr old cat who had kidney disease ~ lots of grief, but wonderful memories. take care.

Jeannie, did you notice that dog spelled backwards is God. That means they are intricately locked in to our higher being. I hope the transition of having extended family enter your permanent situation, goes smoothly. Many, many people are going through this horrible economic situation simultaneously. We'll all be tested with cutbacks, lay-offs and so on. Those of us who suffer most have the most to offer by way of encouragement. God Bless you and your puppies.

Jeannie, I just read this post and am so sorry you had to make this decision.  My heart goes out to you.  I've had to make decisions like that several times in my life and it never is easy.  Please know you are in my thoughts and prayers.

What a shame, but I recall having to do the same thing quite a few years ago when a grandchild was coming to stay.   Poodles aren't great with toddlers when you have a mom/daughter combination.  My teens didn't quite get over that.  Comes into conversations now and then even with them all grown.  We did find homes for them though.  (hope good ones)   Gosh, you are going to have a houseful, but you will manage, as always.  The housing situation is effecting many people.  Have a nice holiday whatever you do.  Be thinking about you and your daughter.

Jeannie, I just saw your post this morning, and I'm so very sorry you had to lose both of you beloved pets.  That has to be so painful for you cry    I wish I we lived closer together, and be there for you.  You are going through SO much right now, and the near future, losing 2 at once is complicating your grief.  Your daughter is probably feeling horrible about this too. Keep posting, it will help just a little.

You are all so very good to me. Your kind words help. I have been looking at the practical reasons why the dogs needed to go to doggie heaven and have been talking sternly with myself. Having daughter's dog and our idiotic 2 yr old lab 'puppy' still here helps a lot. Just have to find a way to stop the dumb tears when I think about it... I did what was best for us and for the dogs. Hate the non rational tears. Dumb emotions get in the way sometimes.

You wouldn't be human without those "dumb" emotions.  You loved them and they meant a lot to you but they are not in pain now and I do believe you will see them again.
