Is THIS fibro?????

 Hi everyone,  I 'm not much of a computer writer---but I sure read this forum a lot in hopes feeling not so alone and not feeling completely weird.  This really helps and I thank you all for you sharing and honesty----it really helps.

Now for the question:  I was dx with fibro years ago by a PA pushing on some special points in my back and saying "yep, you have it".  But I haven't suffered greatly from anything special so I just forgot about it. I have however looked at the list of symptoms (thank you for that) and of the 40 or so I must have 35---but I never put it together because I also have MVP which can cause similar symptoms.  Okay, Okay I will get to the question blush

Recently, I started feeling a number of NEW weird things.  A kins of burning sensation around my middle--kind of like burning or pins and needles or something---maybe itchy too.  Also just deep pain in my legs kind of burning or like someone is pinching parts of my legs---maybe burning, or achey too.  It keeps changing locations.  It started in the back of my knee and I thought maybe I had a blood clot or something---but it comes and goes on all different parts of my legs and thighs.  Also, there is a sort of line from my sciatic (spelling?) point in my lower back down the back of my leg but also it feel like it goes into my female parts . (inside and it really hurts).  I sit for my job and sometimes my leg hurts so much I can hardly sit still.  I'm not sure if it's worse in the morning or evening and I'm not sure that it matters--there is this constant pain going on.  Nothing by the way seems to help.  I still walk everyday and go to the gym twice a week----but I'm always hurting someplace!  This is relatively new---I'm not sure if this has anything to do with it---but a few months ago the Dr. finally convinced to take a statin drug (5mg. of simvastatin) and I thought I felt the muscles in my forearm not feel good (all in my head???) but I stopped after the month.  It seems as though this happened right after that!????? sad

So my real question: DOES THIS MAKE SENSE TO ANY ONE??? 

I'm seeing my PCP soon---but I think I trust you all more.

p.s. I also see an acupuncturist---I got desperate about some of the other symptoms I have.  Has anyone tried this and does it help?

BTW, since I'm not too much of a computer person---what does "post a poll with your forum post " mean? blush

Hello, and welcome. Those symptoms sound exactly like some I've been experiencing. That weird feeling behind your knee is exactly what I was plagued with late last summer. Three times I went to emergency and had it looked at, each doctor telling me something totally different, but all said it will take a couple months to straighten out, ie. I hobbled around for three months, then it sort of went away but occasionally comes back. I too, was fearful it might be a bloodclot. The itchy, burning patches on thighs, also just showed up. I thought i might have caught some kind of fungal growth, but after several weeks of using an anti-fungal cream, and a hydrocortisone cream, they too went away. So, it sounds like Fibro to me. Hi Enufworry,

I am so happy that you popped in to talk to us. This does sound like fibro. I take simvastatin too for cholesterol. I didn't really notice anything in my muscles from it. But I do need it for the cholerterol issue.

I hope that your symptoms subside and that you feel better.

I think that post a poll is when you want to do like a survey and see what people pick for an answer. I have never done it, though others have.

Hi & welcome!

I have burning, tingling, pain, etc. in most parts of my body at one time or another. Your symptoms sound like Fibro, but it is always good to have a doctor rule out other things. I have also found that I sometimes get a new symptom or different pain and my Rheumatologist usually tells me it's the Fibro. You can have Fibro and not have too many problems and then one day it hits you and it is worse.

I haven't tried acupuncture, but have heard a few others on here say it has helped them. Have other tests been done to rule out other things? Now that you are having more problems it is probably good to see your doc. Maybe doc will refer you to a Rheumy.

I saw my doctor for approx. the first 6 months and then she had me see a Rheumatologist. My Rheumy ran additional tests and has really helped me with my pain & also diagnosed my Osteoarthristis & Sleep Apnea. I now see my PCP & Rheumy each about every 6 months unless I have problems before.

I hope you get to feeling better and your doctor can help answer some of your questions. Keep us up to date on what you find out. Good Luck!

P.S.  I have found that hot showers or baths, heating pad, & stretching helps when my legs really bother me. (read the thread - Fibro 101, I think it is the second thread on this board, it helped me)

Hi enufworry and Welcome!

My pain travels also. I can have pain "all" over my body, or just in "areas." Everyday is different for me. It's the goofiest thing. I have not tried acupuncture but I keep an open mind to different treatments. Let us know if it helps. Someone should be along that has tried it.

I, too, take simvastatin and haven't noticed any muscular problems.  I think sometimes we zero in on what is happening to our bodies and then anxiety kicks in and helps cause more problems.  I have osteoporosis and am taking Evista for it.  One of the side affects is muscle pain and I was CERTAIN that I was having more pain.  When I described to my doctor what was going on, he said it wasn't the Evista.  You know, after that my muscles were better!  LOL

Hi all,

Thank you soooo much for your responses.  I mentioned that I don't get much time to be on my computer---but I read all of your posts and I'm so glad that you get it. 

I went to the acupuncture guy on Sat. morning (last Sat.) and he did a bunch of stuff and the pain actually went away for a few days ( til Mon.) and now most of it's back.  Some of it I think is sciatic nerve pain----down my leg pain.  But the burning, stinging and aching behind my knee and around my waist is BACK!  I'm not sure what that means---why it goes away after the acupuncture but then comes right back.  Anyway,  I am sorry that we all suffer from this weird condition----but I am glad that I am not alone.

 Sherrine and getting by,  thanks for the responses about the simvastatin. I think I really need to take it----but boy those muscle pains sure scared me.  The cardio doc said that I was taking such a small dose that it probably wasn't the drug---but it sure scared me......I'm not sure what I'm going to do yet about THAT issue.
