Anyone have advice for restless legs?

Does anyone have problems at night with restless legs? Mine get so bad sometimes. I feel like I need to stretch them, but nothing helps. Not walking, stretching, heating pad, etc.

 

I was hoping someone may have found something that helps. My legs are driving me crazy and I hate dealing with them almost every night.

I was taking tramadol while visiting in USA. It caused restless legs. It is as infuriating, and uncomfortanle as anything I can imagin. I used to go for walks, outdoors. It was a small tiwn with no worries about walking at night. Also, I would tryto knock myself out eith amytriptilene. sad Mostly, changing the med was the best approach.

Tramadol doesn't make my legs restless at all. It's been a Godsend!

I'm sorry to hear that others have this problem, though. It sounds terrible. I have had it a few times in my life (not fibro related) and it's just awful...

..there's another thread somewhere, not that long ago, with the same question and some pretty good responses - maybe have a look see.

When I use to get restless leg, I would feel like running so hard that I would colapse. I noticed it was worse when I was inactive. I tried a medication called mirapex. It didn't work for me but it may for somebody else. So talk to your doctor about it, there could be something that will help you.

Hi..I have RLS and not only at night anymore but in the daytime too, especially if I am sitting too long.  My legs 'crawl and tingle' feel tight and 'tugging' and I just sit and 'shake off the sensation'...kick  my legs...they have been especailly bad during my recent fibro flare.  I very rarely sleep in bed with the hubby anymore because I am moving my legs all over the bed to relieve the sensation.  Doc gave me 5 mg of valium to take at night...it just makes me sleep so I don't feel it.  Mirapex and Colonapin(sp) work for a lot of people.  You might ask doc for a sample to see if it works for you.

I was having what I call total body RLS and my Doctor said Iron supplement seems to work the best so she gave me a prescription for 300mg twice a day and it has really helped.  Also helped muscle twitch in my ear, that was really annoying but rarely happens now.  Might be something to ask your Doctor about.

I agree with the poster above, my doctor said an iron supplement could help with the RLS symptoms so I started taking one twice a day (only after he tested my iron and determined it was low. Not low enough to be considered anemic, but low for someone with RLS symptoms). It really has helped, especially at night. It's something to consider asking your doctor.

Thanks to everyone for the great tips! I will certainly try them out and see what works for me. Last time I broght it up with my doc, we ended up getting into other problems and never came back to the restless legs! Thanks again!
