Im out of pain meds I need support

I am all out of pain meds and in a lot of pain from my costochronditis and back pain. My dr appt is not til tommorrow  and dont even know if my dr will refill my pain meds.Tommorrow I am seeing my family dr for the costo. I can't get in to see my pain dr til next week. The worse of it is the pain pills help me sleep. I need some support.I hope everyone has a LPD.

Hi Kara, I'm sorry to hear you're in such pain and now without your meds! Were you not given enough for the month or did you have to take more this time? My doc told me to never run out before I needed another as it's an opiate (percocet) like your Lortab and you can have withdrawal symptoms. He said he'd rather have me get an early prescription. So, is it possible you could call your doc and just pick up the prescription today? He or she should know how much pain you're in. It really sounds like there needs to be an adjustment in your pain meds as that costo is horrible and lord do I know the back pain. It's been constant with me sincwe I saw my rheumy last month and he pressed gently on my lower spine to measure me bent over!   Do  you have a warm pool and that you could do gentle stretches in for the costo? I had pool therapy for it and it was a blessing. Also a shot of cortisone in the rib cage. How about the warm rice bags? I'm there with you hun and hope you find some relief.

Kara,hang in there kid...I've not had pain meds in a month and my insurance ran out on Jan. 1,and my doc will not give them to me.Last night was endless...in the tub at 3 a.m. trying to get some relief. mad Just remember we're here for you,so vent and scream,we understand.

Kara, I know its late and you probably won't read this till Thursday, but I am hoping that you found something to take and are feeling better, ane managing to sleep. Good luck with your doc appt tomorrow, and I hope he will give you the meds you need. Let us know how you are.

Sorry, I just now read your post. I hope you have found relief! My sister had this happen to her last month. She had a really bad week so she took more of her pain meds and ran out early. She only made it 1 day and went to the emergency room. She was lucky enough to get some pain meds until she could see/call her doctor and get more.

 

Why do you think your doctor won't give you more? Is is just because it is too soon? I wish you luck at your appointment and that you get some pain free sleep tonight!

Thanks Everyone for the support I only got one hour of sleep last night . I am still in pain and now I am tired to boot. I am just praying my dr will help me or I will have to go to the er til I can see the pain dr on Tuesday.

Hi Kara.

I am sorry for your predicament. I have not had any pain meds in about a month.. they tried many muscle relaxers that didn't relieve me at all.. so I just haven't taken any, and Lyrica just doesn't seem like it is for me.. so I feel you, I really do, because I am always aching or having pains... and as for the sleeping problems, yes, I have very bad insomnia at the moment from my bipolar disorder, and maybe because of my Fibro also.. so it's horrible.. I am sorry you're going through it as well because of not having these meds!! cry

Keep us updated and I sure hope you are finding some relief!!
