Newbie, here is my story...

 Okay, my name is Julie, and I live in Virginia.  I work as a CNA at a nursing home, which I love!!  It has brought me to realize that I definately want to pursue my LPN degree. 

I have two girls, one 13 and one 3.  I am married to the love of my life for 10 years, we've been together for 18 years. 

I have always had fatigue issues and aches that people would say, "you have more aches and pains than an old person", but now it has gotten so bad that I am on Ultram, Flexeril, Lyrica, and Levothyroxine (for my Hypothyroidism).  I also have endometriosis and seasonal allergies. 

I have had a ton of tests, MRI's, CT scans, X-rays, Ultrasounds, been to a ...well there goes the Fibrofog, I can't seem to remember the term for the Dr. who deals with MS.  NEUROLOGIST!  Both locally and at a University Hospital about 60 miles away.  I've been in and out of the emergency room, had tons of blood tests and everything comes back negative.  I am scheduled for a visit to the Rheumatologist on March 13, which is the earliest they could get for me, because they only have one in the area!!  (He must be a busy man). 

If you want to know something I didn't cover, I have no problem sharing it, my life is an open book.  I hope to get the rheumatologist to diagnose me so I can move forward.

Hi Julie and welcome. Your story sounds quite familiar. I hope you get a dx when you go to the rheumy. Read the fibro 101 thread, second on first page, if you haven't already. Ask questions and read and we are here for you.

Your story sounds very familiar to me also, right down to the people saying you have the aches and pains of an old person.. I am only 21 and people have told me this for years about myself!!!!!!!!

I was dx'd with Fibro this past Dec. and am fairly new also to this forum.. I am glad you found us! There are such compassionate people here and you will fit right in!

I pray your rheumy can give you an answer - that really is half the battle - just knowing what it is.

And, especially in the case of fibro, then you can begin to manage it - although your scripts sound very much on the money.

welcome! although i'm not happy that you, too, struggle with this dd, i am very happy that you've found us!

kudos to you for being a cna-one of hardest jobs out there, but so needed! and also kudos to you for going for your lpn. i briefly thought i wanted to be a nurse, but then i found out i absolutely suck at knowing and understanding the parts/systems of the body. um..yeah. big drawback there. lol. i still greatly admire and appreciate people who go into the nursing field, though!

i also have a teenage daughter (she's almost 16), so i can relate to you on that point, too!

Hi, Julie, and welcome!  I was out of town whe you first posted this.  It does sound like fibro.  We all have the aches,pains, fatigue and some of us have the hypothyroidism, too.  It's good to rule out other illnesses first, since fibro mimics several illnesses.  Plus, it's nice to know it's not all in your head!

 

Stick with us and we will help you live a full and enjoyable life with fibro, if it turns out that's what you have.  We have great members here that have wonderful ideas to help you.  I'm glad you found us and joined in.  I hope to hear more from  you soon.

Do your symptoms float around?  I go from severe pain in my elbows, to it lessening a little, and then sharp pains in my ankle, or neck, or pelvic floor.  I don't know, is this common in Fibro?  Since I have not seen my rheumy? yet, I am not sure.  (Appt. in March).  I feel like I am on so many meds, I get a lot of grief about how much med. I am on, from my hubby, he doesn't understand.

Right now I am having a lot of neck pain, and can only sleep on my back.  The Lyrica is doing nothing for me, but adding horrible side effects, I am going to call my family Dr. today to talk about going off of it.
