Hey Donna!!
I had shoulder surgery a year and a half ago... I had frozen shoulder and it ROYALLY sux. I got it from being a hairdresser for 20 years, on again off again bursitis for years. Anyway, I could only move my arm about 18 inches from my body, couldn't put my arm behind my back in anyway shape or form. When I had the surgery (orthroscopic.. not really a big deal) they repaired a torn rotator cuff, removed the bursia, shaved off a bone spur and so on. I was in terrible pain for about a year before I had the surgery, went to PT 3 times a week for a month and it did NOTHING, but the doctor had to send me there first, then I went to a ortho-surgeon, got a cort. shot directly into the joint, did nothing. Then the surgery.. and WOW what a great difference!!!! I can raise my hand over my head from all directions with little to no pain... but I still have fibro pain in the shoulder muscal but not the joint.
Best advice I can give you is STRETCH IT. Google shoulder stretching exercises, it hurts in the beginning but its worth it... you don't want frozen shoulder and good stretches really helps to avoid it.
Hope that helps :)
Warm hugs,
Patti
