Could my trouble be fibromyalgia?

Hello, I'm new to this forum (though ive been around the anxiety forum a fair bit)

A lady who just posted in the anxiety forum just got me thinking about fibromyalgia, which i know nothing about. Since i was 28 or so (im 36 now) ive had all sorts of random body aches and pains, plus anxiety, panic attacks, dizziness, TMJ, bad circulation.
The pain i have in my lower back, pelvis and hips, in the ligaments of my pelvis, my upper shoulder blades, my buttocks (the muscles get very achey and tender to press), down the ligaments at the front of my thighs (psoas?), behind my knees, in my jaw. The pain can be very bad (to the point i cant walk or go up stairs without being on my hand and knees. I seem to have 'flare ups' 2 - 3 times a year. The areas of pain are so varied and ever changing - i recently visited an ostepath, and when he asked me what my problem area was, he ended up needing an extra sheet of paper to write on and he looked a bit scared! lol, i have too many problem areas

However i dont have trouble sleeping, or bad fatigue (some though compared to others my age). I have always felt that all my varied symptoms are connected somehow.. but have never known what it could all mean..
Do i sound like a candidtae for fibromyalgia or am i just an achy moaning lady with a bad back and anxiety disorder?!

Most of us with fibro have anxiety issues as well, to me you sound very much a fibro candicate. I got tmj and beleive thats when it started, what you have described sounds alot like what I go through periodically as it can move around and symptems can change. I have terrible tiredness where I drift in and out but it didnt start when I was first diagnosed. So my answer is yes its quite posssible, ask to see a specialist if it is bad or worsens. sue2z

Hi, and welcome! Check out the Fibro 101 thread...the second thread on the forum. There are links to good info about fibromyalgia...including a list of symptoms. Pull that up and see if you see yourself there!

We do have a good group and will help all we can but you do need to talk to your doctor about your symptoms. They will want to run tests to rule out other illnesses, since fibro mimics other illnesses.

Hi, Hazed, I agree with Sue, you do sound much like a Fibromite.. your pain sounds an awful lot like what I appearence also... BUT like Sherrine also mentioned, Fibro does mimic other illnesses. I say talk to your doctor and what they'll do is some tests to rule out other conditions, and also check your tender points (with Fibromyalgia you have 11 - sometimes even if you have less than that they still may diagnose you with it - especially if you have many other symptoms). I hope everything works out for you. And do check out the Fibro 101 thread!!!! You'll be able to get a better understanding of the illness through that.. and through just talking to us!! So stick around! And keep us updated.
