I have had Fibro for most, if not all of my life. As a little girl, my sense of smell usually directed what I could eat and what I couldn't eat. My parents were the 'clean your plate' type of ppl, made for some interesting meals. NOT! If I eat something when I don't feel 'right' I end up not eating the food again. As a child, I got sick on Christmas, my DM made an Pineapple Upsidedown Cake. I tried to take a bite, got sick, can't eat pineapple, it is known as 'forbidden fruit' in my house. I made macaroni salad for a party yrs. ago, I had the beginnings of mono, tho I didn't know what it was at the time. I tried to eat the salad, got sick, can't even look at mayo to this day. The smell of peanuts/peanut butter makes me sick. A yr ago, I had a hamburger when I wasn't feeling well, now I can't stand the smell or taste of beef. There are foods I can't eat due to diverticulosis, so I'm rather limited w/ what I can eat.
There are times I start to prepare food thinking I can eat it, as soon as I take out the item or the ingredients, the smell takes over and that is that. Back it goes.
One thing I find very interesting is if I eat mustard, I get a craving for something sweet. I try to avoid mustard too often, but if the feeling hits me, I have one pc of Dove dark chocolate - and I don't much care for chocolate.
It feels like all of my senses are on Red alert and they are warning me away from food. You would think I would be positively skinny - in my dreams.
God bless. Alice.
