Who ever said Fibro is no degenerative is just not seeing it. I really got diagnosed in late spring but this winter weather is killing me. my left knee bothers me the most and my bones in my back. Dont' get me wrong the right knee hurst too just not as bad. If I stoop down, my neeks can't really pull me back and and if they do it is increadable painful.

 

So my meds are Lyrica 100 mgs X2 and Cymbolta 60 X1 and good old Percocet which is to the point that all it does for me is keep me awake at night which we all know is a big no no. I even take Ambien CR with it and still I'm away tossing and turning all night, I put in a call to rhumy but she is in the other office and doesn't have my record so I won't hear from her until tomorrow. She also mad me sign this thing about only getting narcotics from her and not my general. Okay by me but I need something else for the pain, tylenol w/codine 3 doesn't cut it vicoden doesn't really cut it and it keeps me awake too. So here I sit in pain at work and ready to fall asleep at any min because I'm so tired...and in pain. Sorry to whine, but I just gotta get it out and I knwo you guys completly understand. I had some injections to my neck but that didn't help. It actually made it worse so I stopped that. I am 42 and I feel so old moving around like I'm in my 70's!!@!!!!!!

Monica, be sure to see if they can take you off the stuff that isn't working.  Many times doctors just add to the pill mixture.  If meds are not doing any good then stop taking them.  It's so bad for the liver in my humble opinion.

Monica, I tried all the NSAIDs and two different narcotics (Darvon and Vicodin) and none of them worked. They say that fibro causes your opioid center in your brain to not work right and not absorb the drug. At least that is one theory. I am not able to take any meds for pain. I hope this isn't the case with you, but it might be. Diane

I am so sorry your meds are not working. Be VERY careful if they want to take you off of the lyrica. It MUST be tapered off slowly to discontinue it. VERY SLOWLY or you have the risk of seizures.

I don't think the nsaids are going to work, with the exception of MAYBE toradol. But you can only take toradol for a few days as it will destroy your stomach.

I am using fentanyl patches and they are extremely helpful in controlling the pain. They stay on for 72 hours (3 days) and then you change them. I also take oxycodone with them and my lyrica.

Keep on the doc until you find meds you CAN take.

Often they try enbrel or humira to help if there is any chance of arthritis. For some people those are miracle meds, for me they did nothing.

you just have to keep plugging along, sooner or later you will find more ideas.

They make a stronger perc that is ten millagrams, but I wouldn't ask the doctor for that, see if they up your dose for you anyway. Just mention that the percs aren't doing the trick. If they are keeping you up at night, maybe try taking them earlier in the day. You do have to stay on top of the pain with them, or they might not catch up to it.

Sorry that your meds are not working for you. Just keep on your Rheumy until you find something that works. Sherrine made a really good point. My Rheumy adds meds on, but hardly ever takes meds away. I think I am taking way too many drugs and probably only a few are helping me!

It took me many months with my Rheumy trying different meds until I found something that at least helps with my pain level. I gave up on anything to make me feel great. At least I can get thru my every day tasks. (unless I have a flare)

Good luck! I hope you are able to get something soon that will help with your pain.

I hope you find something that works. Nothing seems to work well for me. The last thing I tried worked great! I only had to deal with my arthritis pain no fibro pain at all. But it started giving me anxiety and bad aggitation and other weird symptoms so I had to stop taking it last week. Now i'm in another bad cycle of pain and am almost in tears at work right now. I left my vicodin at home. Not good. I can't go get it due to the ice out there. It was hard enough getting to work today, if I go home I stay home, and my husband needs to go to the dr this afternoon so I can't do that.

I'm so sorry you're having a bad time too. Just know that you are not alone. There are many of us in the same boat.
