Totally Bummed Out...

Hi FMily..

I did a really stupid thing, I made a big error on filing this week's umemployment claim that might effect my unemployment benefits and I could lose my unemployment all together.   My internet connection was acting up yesterday and I got kicked off the unemployment website while I was processing this week's claim, I wasn't able to check my answers until I got back on the site (by that time it was too late) and I answered the area asking if I had "looked for work this week" with a NO instead of a Yes.  Now I won't get any $$ this week.  I've tried to call and ofcourse I can't speak to a live person.  I don't know what to do.

The fog isn't helping either.  When I got booted off the site I paniced.. and for good reason.  Now I'm really freaking out!!  I know my husband is going to be REALLY upset.  But believe me, I'm more upset with myself than he could ever be with me.

If I can't even click on the right spot on the website how the heck am I ever going to have my head together enough to find a job again.  I'm never going to be able to do the work I used to do because of my fibro.  I used to work about 50-70 hours a week and believe me, I don't ever want to do THAT again.  I just want a part time office job, but there's nothing out there like that in this lousy economy. 

I've also thought about trying to get SSDI, but I can't apply for that if I'm on unemployment. 

I'm so mad at myself right now, I can feel an anxiety attack coming on and that will throw me into a flare (like it always does). 

I'm usually a really positive person, but this dumb move is really killing me.  I'm incredibly bummed out and can't think straight.

first of all-deep breaths, my dear. i'll take some with you (my anxiety can send me into a flare, too, so i'm just trying to help )

i am so sorry this happened!! i don't know how unemployment works in indiana, but here in michigan there is a number you can call to talk to a human-you have to wait on hold for about an hour (ugh) but you do finally get a real human being-do you guys have something like that? there has to be some way you can get ahold of someone! here we have something called michigan works, which are basically unemployment offices in various cities throughout the state-do you guys have something like that? maybe you could go there and talk to someone and explain what happened? it wasn't your fault that your computer screwed up!

i would think there would have to be SOME way for you to get ahold of a human-i know they don't make it easy for people, though, do they? grrrrrr!! hopefully you can get in touch with someone and get this fixed! i know upsetting this stuff can be and how stressful, especially when you think you might not get your payment!

I agree Patti, you need to go to your local unemployment office and tell them about the computer messing up. I'm sure your not the first that has had computer problems while filling it out. The sooner you do it the better. I know it's just more stress added to your life that you don't need to have to deal with.

I agree with the girls here.  I also think that this problem is more common than you think!!  Start making those calls..or go to the unemployment office.  Even in Canada..each city has it's own office...we call it the same too...for eg...Orillia Works...or whatever city you are in.

Patti, I'd call again and stay on the line until a person will talk to you.  I'm hearing impaired and have to do this all of the time.  You do need to let them know what happened and that your computer was acting up.  I think they would understand.  There is so much going on in everyone's lives.

 

I would also try making the claim again.  It may not have gone through, either, if you were kicked off while you were doing it.  It can't hurt and could help.  I'd write on the claim what happened the first time, too.

After I faxed in my information.. and a couple of days of patience.. I GOT IT!!!  They were understanding of my error and granted me this week's $$  Ahhhhh.. Thank GOD!!!

Thanks again for your help and advice!!! I did just what you told me to do... took the bull by the horns and didn't let go till I got my way!!!

Its amazing.. I was very tough in my job, but when it comes to myself.. I can be a bit of a weenie.  Guess I've got to learn to treat myself a little better and stand up for me once in a while.
