I need my fibro family again.

My granddaughter went into preterm labor last night, she isn't quite 33 wks. They have her on magnesium and they have given her one shot to develope the babies lungs, they can only give them every 24 hrs. She is dilated to two and 70% efaced. Thank God she is in one of the best hospitals in the state as far as NICUs go. They did a 3D sonogram and the baby is fine but a little small for his age but then she and the baby's daddy are both small. They will keep her in the hos as long as there are any signs of labor so they can keep her on meds, which are making her sick but she can handle it for him. Every day they can keep him from being born is a day to his favor.

 

I'm trying to stay calm and positive but my body is reacting to this whether I want it to or not. We have been the preemie route with one grandson and for those of you that haven't spent time in a NICU it's not the most pleasant experience. But they keep babies alive that would not have a chance other wise.

 

We didn't get much sleep last night so I'm not going to the hos as long as things stay calmed down. I want her to relax and rest. The baby's daddy is with her. Of course the hos is an hour away from us like everything else is.

 

So if you would say a little prayer for him to stay put for a couple more weeks at least.

Marlee, My thoughts are with you today, I have spent many hours in NICU with my Grandson & both of my daughters.  I hope & pray that your Granddaughter & Great Grandson will be okay.  I imagine she is getting the best of care & has family around her.  You, my friend, please take care of yourself, your love & care will be needed after the baby comes.  You can spend hours doting on your newest sweet addition to the family while Mommy gets some rest.  I love babies, whether they are mine or not. (I consider all myGrandchildren mine)  Many hugs, Denise

Thanks to all my Fingertip family!!! You have no idea how much you all mean to me. Your right Alice it has been one stressor after another for years now. My mother told me not to get married on Halloween.

 

She is still having some contractions and they won't take her off the meds til she is contraction free for 24 hrs. They won't do another vaginal exam cause that aggravates the uterus more. Apparently she had been having contractions for awhile and she thought it was the baby sticking his butt out until they got painful. They will give her the other steroid shot tonight for his lungs. Everyday they can keep him in is another day to his advantage. We are no longer counting down the weeks but taking it one day at a time. She will be 33 wks Thurs.

 

As some of you know we have had GD for a big part of her life and the only people she has here is her uncle and us, her dad is in NC. Her boyfriend is being great and hasn't left her for any length of time and his parents live close to the hos. Yes, I have been mad at this DD again cause I would love to be with her but I would probably drive her crazy everytime she made a move. We will go tomorrow and I'm going to take her lots to do to keep her busy. If anything happens and they can't stop the contractions we will be ready to run. She is down for the count whether it is in the hos or at home. We shall make it through this too. They said he is around 4 lbs so that is great.

 

The poor little guy doesn't have a name cause his mother changes her mind everyday but she has promised to name him before he starts to school. We know his middle name is Michael. Grandpa has been calling him Tator Tot from the beginning.

 

I haven't grasped this whole great grandma thing so he is my grandson. They really are all our babies no matter who they belong to Denise.

 

I shudder at the thought of spending time in a NICU too Rich but thank God they have them.

 

Thanks for all your prayers once again. It will all be okay, his birthday will probably not be in April as planned and he may be a guest at his baby shower on the 14th.
