Lately I've been mixing up my words, forgetting them, etc. (Spanish class has been a nightmare.)
Today I went to get lunch at Chipotle and instead of asking for cheese I said rice. The guy making my burrito looked at me like I was absolutely stupid and said, "That is not rice. It's cheese." And then basically the whole staff laughed at me.

I hate having an invisible illness. How would he feel if he was making fun of a sick person? mad

I know I am too sensitive but still, it really hurts my feelings.

Not to sound mean, but I would be messin' up my words in Spanish even without fibro. LOL!

I do the same too when asking for something and I stop mid sentence with a blank look on my face and I try REEAaal hard to remember what I was going to ask or even say. As I've seen on a bumper sticker, MEAN people suck!, Also, being Chipolte, the employees are sure to be pretty young (to young to understand true customer service) and may not have even a family member with any type of illness so they are bound to be very insensitive.

I do that too! My family has a good laugh at my chewbacka language. I stop and its like I can't get the word out or ask for different things instead of the item I want. I've learned to laugh about it, but at times it is really frustrating. I also notice it gets more intense with menopause. I use to be a live DJ in radio and ran live talk shows and music. I sometimes go into our local radio station and record announcements, and I just am so broken up in my speaking that i feel like a complete idiot. But I have to laugh, if I don't laugh about it, I would propably spend alot of time crying in my room. I do get momemts of clarity and when I do, I love to see peoples faces change to "Okay what just happen, this woman isn't stupid" hang in there my dear.

Kelly- don't you worry, gal, you are just fine. There is nothing wrong with YOU. They have the problem, not you. Here is something I do from time when people act as though they were raised by wolves in a butterfly garden: I just say something to them in another language and that usually makes them pause, frown, look at one of their ill-mannered associates, and then back at me. Meanwhile, I have moved on to something else. Here is one I like and use alot: illegitimi non carborundum. [its latin that means :don't let the ******s grind you down] Silly, I know, but sometimes I like to be weird. ha!

Lol, don't feel bad, half my family has learned my made-up sign language and can understand what I mean by "that THING!!!" now. Everyone else looks at my like I'm crazy when I always ask for the thing you do the thing with.

Sometimes I get really angry because I will be talking about something and then I will completely forget what I was talking about. I can be in the middle of a sentence and forget. It is really frustrating. I understand how you can be upset, and it is okay. But don't let it get to you too much. Too much stress brings on flares, and those suck. Try to give yourself a break. Try to start laughing about the little things. Good luck.

We have to be able to laugh at ourselves, or we would be absolutely crazy. I was talking to a neighbor one day and I went to say 'my dog is afraid of lawnmowers.' and instead I said 'my dog is afraid of watermelons.' I do not know where watermelon came in, but that was what I said. Can you picture the look that I got from her? LIke are you absolutely crazy? I laughed about it and corrected myself. And went on talking. So if she thinks I am crazy, oh well, If everybody wasn't just a little bit crazy, nobody would be normal.

Yeah, fibro is a bummer.

THAT'S probably what is bothering you more than anything.

Hang in there - we never know what someone else is dealing with until we walk in their shoes.
