savella coming out soon?

does anyone know exactly when savella is going to be available in pharmacies here? I heard it was suppose to be sometime in march but I wasn't sure exactly when. I want to try it and Im in the middle of trying to find a doctor to monitor me, as my pain doctor, said i would have to go to a psychiatrist and be monitored if I was on it cause of the type of medicine it is.

Since Savella is being marketed for fibro, I don't understand why your pain doc can't monitor you. Talk to your primary care doc, it seems silly to me to add another doctor to the mix. Milnacipran (Savella) is used as an antidepressant in Europe but that shouldn't mean only psychiatrists can prescribe it.

You'll know when Savella is available because we'll be bombarded with advertising! I hope the commercials are better that the Cymbalta ones.

my rheumatologist and my pain doctor said that since it is the type of medicine like anti depressants you have to be monitored by a psychiatrist. I guess maybe it's because they know what to look for, since they prescribe a lot of anti-depressant meds and i think it causes the same side effects of anti-depressants like suicide and depression. I think, since I am younger (19), I have a higher chance of getting these side effects, so they want me to be watched.

Also, my pain dr., just moved to seattle to be the head of the pain center at some big children's hospital, so I can't really see him anymore, since I'm on the otehr side of the country, but he said that he would write the prescription for whatever i wanted (not sure if he still will, since he's not here anymore), but i had to see someone else to be monitored.

Since you are so young Aliza, they are taking precautions. I know too well the side effects of anti-depressants. cymbalta almost killed me--I have become extremely sensitive to medications, especially anti-depressants. I want to try the Savella as well. I hope that it actually helps us all out! Good luck and Im sure that there will be plenty of threads about this one soon, so hang in there just a little longer.

I would be very interested in trying this as well. But, Im not sure what insurance will say. Im getting off my Lyrica right now... so I can tell what kind of condition I am! Im only taking a small amount of Paxil. And going to therapy. I could probably mention to my doctor. But, I think Im going to wait a while. When I get off this Im going to try things and see how I feel...Im going to give it some time and then make a decision as to whether I wish to try it, if possible.

If anyone on here tries it, please let us know! I'd be VERY interested in learning more about it.
