Hello ladies, isn't this going to be fun? Losing weight doesn't have to be a diet. I totally agree it must be a lifestyle change, I have to continue with this eating plan. I have been watching "The Biggest Loser" & it always gets me thinking of learning to eat healthier.
Kelly - great advice-good job- I was hoping this would happen-we know how to support each other so why not extend it to eating healthy & lose some of this weight at the same time. Hoo HOO!!! I am so excited to learn.
tyno - I use low carb because it has worked for me in the past. But as I said in my earlier post it has it's down side too. If it isn't a lifestyle change it will just all come back & with a little extra to make you feel that much worse. Just google low carb & there are many different sites out there with recipes & carb counters that you can use & print out if needed. A lot of them say only 20 carbs but that is definitely a diet so I have lost weight staying at 30 to 40 carbs. You automatically lower your calorie intake because we eat no suger, flour or starches like pasta, potatoes etc. I eat mostly meats, veggies, a very few fruits & dairy but no milk. I use heavy cream mixed with water & half & half. I don't go overboard on the fats like most do with a low carb but I will say you will lose wight faster if you do. My cholesterol is high so I do have to watch it for myself. When I did use fattier meats my cholesterol was actually good because of the balance of foods I was eating. I hope this helps. Carbohydrates are listed on all food in a per serving amount & I use that in my figuring of what I will eat. Nuts are another good thing to have but in moderation. Peanut butter is a real treat when I am craving something.
Austen, Marlee & LeeAnn- "Can we do it? Yes, we can!!" (waving pompoms in the air as she does the splits on the floor) I am so happy we can all lose together. I spent most of my life at 105-118LBs. Once I hit middle age the weight just kept piling on & I didn't know how to stop it. I had never had to watch what I ate or how much. Now I just take those potatoes & smear them on my thighs but through my mouth. I have 5 or 6 different sizes in my closet & I am almost out of the largest size.
Right now I am drinking a latte double shot with splenda & 1/4 cup half & half with water added to about 1-1/2 Cups of latte. YUMMY!!! So rich & is only 2 carb due to the half & half.
I am going to have a cheese omelet for breakfast made with cheddar & thin sliced ham for a carb count of about 5 carbs. Oh, and another latte.
