I am suffering with Fibro, Carpel Tunnell, Spondolysis, Osteoporosis, Arthritis, IBS, Sciatica, Nerve Root Pain, Degererative Disk Diease, Thyroid Nodules, too much but making it day by day

tmac, I am really happy you have found this site.  The people here are great & will give you the support you need to make it day by day.  Some days all I can do is come here & read but it does take me away from my own problems & pain for awhile.  Read old threads & new.  How long have you been suffering so?  When were you dx'd with Fibro.  I hope you get all the answers, help, support & friendships you are looking for.  Many very soft hugs, Denise

Thanks so much. I was diagnosed in October of last year but, I have had it for about 5 years now. I finally stopped working in August. I was an employment counselor for approx 15 years. I am on Lyrica my rheumy prescribed and it has helped for the sciatica. I can now at least get through with grocery shopping without too much pain. The side effects are though but rather suffer with that than without any meds/ I have a supportive husband and a son in college. Its me and my chichuachua (spelling wrnmg) during the day, I have started to walk some and it makes me feel better to be outside in the freash air and sun..

Welcome Tmac1,

I don't quite have all that, Wow! I'm on Gabapentin, tried Lyrica, didn't work for me. I work full time and have one son left going to college. I miss him. I have a cat, probably bigger than you chiwahwah (sp?)LOL. She's a 13 yr old house cat. :-)

Good to hear you have a supportive husband. I wouldn't know what I would do without mine. He drives me everywhere and helps me with all the shopping. Boy, he sure gets mad when I try to help put groceries in the truck. :-)
He pushes the cart and I use a cane.

Hi, Tmac, and welcome!  I'm so glad you found us and joined in.  You will find that many on this forum have more than fibromyalgia.  It seems to go with the territory.

 

Be sure to check out the Fibro 101 thread...the second thread on the forum.  There are links to a lot of great information about fibromyalgia in there. 

 

I find that stretching and walking really help me too.  I make sure to walk every day.  I, too, had osteoporosis and walking is great for that too so I'm really helping myself by doing that.

 

Read back post and ask questions.  We have great members that have great ideas to help you live a full and enjoyable life.  The bonus is that we really do care about each other, too.  So, welcome!  I hope to hear more from  you soon.

Hello and welcome. My father has degenitive disc disease, He suffers alot, I can not imagine adding all those others with it. I know you will love it here, we are all one big happy family.

Welcome. I am impressed that you walk outside often with all that you live with. Great job.

I swim every single day and I love it. I am sorry I did not do it before I had fibro,

I have a son is college, wait, I am in college also. I am a single parent and this fall, my youngest will attend college.

Hey there Tmac!!

I have a few of the same problems that you have.. so we can relate to each other!! 

I'm so glad you found this forum.  Its helped me more than I can tell you.  The folks here are so kind and supportive.  I stop by here almost everyday, because these people are like a family to me and I know they care about me as much as I care about them.  We support each other and we try to have some fun too.  Last week we had a virtual party at Sherrine's house and man oh man ... we had a virtual wild and crazy time!!! 

You mentioned your dog... most of us have pets that we love.  LOL.. we even love each others pets and have gotten to know their names!!  I think our pets keep us going on days when we can barely move.  I have 2 dogs and 2 birds, knowing that I have to care for them everyday helps me feel needed and loved. 

I also have an extremely supportive husband.  He's never judgemental and always looks out for my best interests.  LOL, yes he gives me a hard time when I try to load the car with groceries, too.

I stopped working in Nov. 08.  I hope that sometime soon, when the economy improves I'll be able to find a part time office job.  But here in the N/E Indiana the unemployment rate is about 12% so it might take a while.

My kids are grown and gone, but I'm sure we're close to the same age.  My kids are all great adults that I'm very proud of (most of the time.. LOL).

Again, welcome to the forum, I know you'll find answers and support here.

Hi tmac and Welcome-

I was diagnosed May of 08' and have not been able to work since. I got hit so bad, that 30 ft. seemed like 30 miles. It has been slow going, but now I love to walk. I can't go real far, but it feels good. I can walk a third of the mall, or part of the grocery store too. If I walk by my house, I have figured I can walk 3 long blocks - any further and my legs start cramping and just can't move. I could not grocery shop at first either, so I am thankful I can get in and get a few things now.

Happy to hear you have a supportive husband and your chihuahua for company during the day!
