Ok, I still haven't seen a doctor yet. I need to find a ride first. I have a question though. DO any of you get hand pain or numbness? I have pain in my left hand and numbness in my right. Does anyone know what could be causing this?

Hi sarbear,

 

Numbness is very, very common in Fibro. So is the hand pain.  It sounds like your Fibro is giving you troubles.  I don't think there are any remedies for this. I get it a lot too.  Just one of those symptoms we have to live with!  If you're concerned, definitely talk to your doctor about it.

You see I don't know if I have fibro or not. I have not been diagnosed but I have all the symptoms and it is in my family. I do need to see a doctor though to find out if I do have fibro or something else.

First of all, forgive me for not welcoming you to the family sooner. For some reason I'm really bad at replying to all of the newbie posts. I hope you'll forgive me. Anyway, welcome to the family! wink

Like you, I also get numbness in my hands, and they hurt a lot. This also happens with my feet, too. Your symptoms sound very fibro-ish, but since I'm not a doctor, I really can't say. rolleyes

If you live in Upstate SC, I can give you a ride to the doctor. Just let me know when your appointment is. smilewinkgrin

hey there Sarbear!!

One of my most painful areas is my hands.  I get numbess too, I have Carpal Tunnel... so that is part of the problem but the Fibro only makes it worse.  Another problem I have with my hands is.. my hands don't seem to work like they used to.. sort of like they can't coordinate with my brain.

When you go to the doctor, be sure to mention it.

Yeah, I plan to mention it. I think I am going to sit down and make a list of things I want to talk to the doc about.

Hi Sarbear, I also have numbness and pain in my hands. It started in the 1970's. I went through a lot of tests but all I really found out was I have Raynaud's-which means my hands are really affected by any cold. Just this morning I was having trouble with my hands after washing lettuce under the cold water. They also go numb at night when I am trying to sleep. I was just recently diagnosed with fibro, but I believe I have had it for a long time. Be sure to tell your doctor everything. This is probably where I goofed up. I just kept ignoring symptoms. Do your hands ever turn blueish or red when they are cold? If so let your doctor know. Good luck.

I have never noticed if my hands turn red or bluish when cold but I know my feet do turn a bluish color.

My feet turn colors too when they get cold. Just be sure to mention it to your doctor.  I don't think the doctor's knew too much about fibro in the 70's, at least the ones I saw.  I just have to be careful to wear gloves in the cold or when I clean out the frig etc.  When my hands start acting up then it seems like my shoulders start hurting and if I don't take something it turns into a neck/head ache. I know it's hard taking care of a baby with these problems.  I had my last baby in 1983 and  by then I was having a lot of these crummy problems. Good luck to you.
