Painful touch, anyone?

I hope all of you have had a decent day today. It's sunny here and 75*. That makes me feel better, just the pretty day and sunshine. I am ready for spring!.... and Baloo, sometimes I feel that I act like the wicked witch of the west when I'm in a bad flareup.lol.....NO, I am just kidding, but I really try hard not to act out my pain on my family. I think they have it rough also, just watching me suffer.....I usually make jokes and smile(even tho I feel like biting a nail into) .....I have another question for you guys..Does your skin just ache deep whenever you rub or lightly squeeze your arm or the top of your shoulder, or even the sides of my hip and top of my legs? Sometimes I think , is it ever gonna quit hurting or what! It's like NOBODY touch me!!!
OH, and when I am coming out of a store , sometimes I stop and think, I don't remember coming in here. Gosh that makes me feel stupid.....lol anyway that's just a few weird things I could think of right now to ask..

Hi There Mammaw,

I know just what you mean about the skin hurting.  To me it feels almost like a horrible sunburn.  I can't stand anyone to rub on me or squeeze me.  Also, do you know how some people love to have their back scratched?  Well, that is torture to me!  People think I'm crazy when I say, "my skin hurts".  Glad to know I'm not the only one!  :)

Hi Mammaw!

WOW, do I ever hear you on this one. Very glad you started this topic!!! Over the weekend we were trailer camping and take our dog, of course. She's a Golden Retriever and has enough hair for 3 Goldens and an extra poodle...lol So, I carry a sticky roller to remove the hair from my clothes. As I was rolling that thing over my legs it hurt so much I couldn't stand to do it any more! How stupid is that??

Oh, Donnie's girl! Yes, on the skin hurting. I sorta figure that if I act a bit goofy most of the time that when I tell them of a fibro symptom they just think I'm normal, for me that is...lol j/k One question tho...touch is one of those wonderful healing things that we long for. Done right (of course) it's soothing, comforting and even "more" (blush). But how do we get past the pain to get to that wonderful feeling? Maybe it depends on who's touch it is? If it's hubby then who cares if there's a bit of pain, but others have to take their chances.

I have gotten to the point that I cringe when someone tries to hug me. yesterday I had a itch on my leg, I went to scratch it and the spot hurt for an hour. My bra feels like I am in a horrid bear hug till I take it off, and I am way too big to not wear one. I no longer wear jeans, most shoes are torture. I so understand the touch pain thing. It is said to be rare but I have a lot of fibromites with this issue. Yet, another thing they have no clue on when it comes to I guess.

Oh Yeah, as of late the touching thing has gotten alot worse. I was trying to explain it away by putting it on menopause.  I have to say I can scratch an itch and i will have pain for an hour after.  And I absolutely hate the bra thing.  So when I am home I just wear my excersice shirts with the built in lifter. Of course nothing works at my age for lifting, but it does feel better. blush I  SO understand the "Hey, What am I doing here"  "How did I get here"  And the worse is when I am driving and I either stop at a green light or think I ran a red light.  I have to say at those times, I don't drive.  It scares me.. bad.. It hasn't happen for sometime now, Thank Goodness, and Thank God my daughter gets her drivers license in a couple months.  Relief." Well sorta" smilewinkgrin

The touching is so weird it sometimes is not even a pain its more like fingers on the chalk board....Somtimes my socks feel weird on my feet like they are scratching me when I put them on. Some days I find my self in the car parking in the parking space and thinking that I dont remember the ride there. It scares me and sometimes I wonder if I should stop driving. I have to drive because I have to work.

yes, i have that problem too. hugs usually hurt me alot. Even if someone just taps my shoulder, that can hurt alot too.

also, when i scratch an itch, it hurts. I guess we're just really, really, sensitive.

I get that too.. but not ALL the time. 

And oooh I hear ya on the sunburned feeling .. it comes and goes but I never know what or when to expect it.

I like to get a massage about once a month.. its my thing I do for ME.  The last time I got one, it was verrrrrrrrrrrrrry painful around my hip area.  I almost jumped off the table.  And my mass. therapist was barely touching me.  She said.. you need to have this looked at. Hmm?!?

yeah, me too. scratching an itch feels like there is a bruise deep down under there. the memory problems are enoding - not paying attention sometimes can cause encoding; like when you drive somewhere so much you go on autopilot. remember when you were 16 and just learning to drive and you paid close attention - now you don't have to do that anymore.

Ah Baloo I am so glad you mentioned the red light/green light thing because I find myself doing that ALL the time. I will go through an intersection and then immediately think "Oh crap" was that light red?? I have to say I don't think it's too unsafe because at the time I approached the light I WAS paying attention...I just don't remember it afterward...I do the "drive an autopilot" thing too. Once or twice I've actually driven to the WRONG place, because I was an autopilot and heading in that direction. eyes The only thing that has really scared me with my driving is when I zone out on the highway, then I snap back and have that moment of wondering "Where am I? Where am I going?" etc. Sigh. If it isn't one thing, it's another.

Get this; the water on my skin hurts when I shower. It is always the perfect temperature but it feels like I hit my "funny bone", not so funny.

I get this, too. Sometimes hubby will just lightly squeeze my shoulder or put the lightest pressure on my back, and I will want to cry it hurts so bad! Just light featherlike touch on my skin doesn't hurt, but as soon as their is even the slightest pressure (I'm talking like next to nothing pressure), it hurts terribly! My body feels like it's one big bruise most of the time, too, so that doesn't help!
