Hello, I just found this forum tonight and figured I should sign up and join in. I've been dealing with chronic pain for almost 3 years and I have been given the diagnosis of fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue. I have a list of symptoms that are longer than my arms and seems to be getting longer and longer. I'm 28 years old, male, married w/5 kids. I don't know if I would have made it this far without them. Anyway, looking for a few answers to my many questions, so I guess I'll just start sorting through the threads and see what I come up with.

Hi Scott & welcome to the forum.  You have found the best forum there is & it is full of not just knowledgeable people but very caring people.  Feel free to ask away, there will be someone here who has been through whatever you are going through & has answers for your questions.  If we don't have an answer, we may have ideas that may help.  Wow, 5 kids, that is so awesome.  Finding out we have Fibro can be like a death sentence but it is not.  You have a life still & it is all about learning how to pace yourself & find the right meds &/or supplements that will give you the best life you can have.  It can be a very good life.  I think knowledge is power, learning all you can about this illness & trying different things until you find what fits for you.  Also, I think a positive attitude is important.  It sounds like you have a good support system & that is so imperative.  I use these people here as my support system & also my daughter, Misty.  It is nice to meet you.  I am usually a night owl due to insomnia.  Another little Fibro gift.  LOL  Hugs, Denise

Hi Scott!!

Welcome to the forum!!  This is a great place to learn and get support!!  I don't know what I would have done without this place.  Fibro & CFS is a tough thing to deal with, I know you'll find a lot of answers for your questions here.  Please feel free to ask away, we really care about our members and everyone is more than willing to help.  Be sure to check out the second thread on the forum called Fibro 101, you'll find that its packed with lots answers and links to help you with support.  I saw in your post that your family is supportive and believe me, that's half that battle when it comes to fibro.

I just wanted to welcome you to the forum and our fibro family.  We're here for you!!  Ask questions and join in on our Koffee Katches, its fun and helps us get to know eachother.  You've come to a great place to laugh, cry, learn and get support.

Welcome, Scott! I'm pretty new here too, and have learned some things already....mostly that everyone is very caring. Please stick around and ask lots of questions. We learn from each other. :o)

Hi Scott, and welcome.  Wow, 5 kids!  Your life must be so busy but so incredibly blessed at the same time.  :-)    I'm glad you've joined us, and I hope you will feel free to post, comment, and ask questions often.

Hi Scott and welcome to the family. Five children must keep you very busy and it has to be rough with fibro and CFS. You found the right place to learn about fibro. Read, ask questions and even vent when you need to and we will be here for you.

Hi, Scott, and welcome!  We love getting new members and especially if they are men!  We have several male members and it is growing all of the time.  I'm sorry you are having to deal with these illnesses but am glad that you found us and joined in.

 

I see you have been directed to the Fibro 101 thread.  There are links to good info about fibro in there, including symptoms, exercises, links about supplements, etc.  You will learn a lot there.

 

Be sure to read back posts and ask questions.  That's what we are here for.  Take care. enjoy those five beautiful children, and I hope to hear more from you soon.

Hi Scott,

I'm new here, too.  Interestingly I was wondering if there were any men here, since I have read that Fibro affects mostly women.  Sorry that we have this in common, but I think we have arrived at a good place in this forum.

I grew up in a big family.  I am the oldest of six; five girls and one boy.  We were always up to something.   devil

I have two children of my own, but I have taught hundreds, and they all feel like "mine."

Thanks for all the warm welcomes! Yes, 5 kids is a handful. Luckily, they're all well behaved (for the most part, the boys can give some grief) and the older ones help me out with the younger ones. I read the spoon theory, and let me tell you, there are days when the kids take all my spoons before noon.

You are a busy and blessed man with five kids! I can see where you would have your spoons used up by noon! Great place to belong- and we have great guys at this site also, we haven't scared them away yet. smilewinkgrin
