is this fibro

I am new to this so a couple of questions:

I get this pain sometimes, after golfing for example, in the upper part of my chest area alomst at the collar bone. It hurt to the touch if I rub the bone or between the ribs. Other times, I get it low in the ribs where they meet the sturnum. Then it just goes away. This time it has lasted for a couple of days after golfing. I am in pretty good shape, non somoker, non drinker ,etc and I stay in shape by excercising and walking alot. I just get this naggin pain i nthe ribs. I had cardio tests done a little while back and was A-OK. I looked up pressure point and the upper collar area ones seem to be exactly wehre I ache. I did not see anything about the sternum area.  Any idea what this is and how to get rid of it? Rest usually helps. But I like/need to stay active.

It sounds a lot like costo, which goes along with fibro often. It seems to be mostly in the chest area. I don't remember the full word, but I am sure that somebody else will. So it is kind of normal.

Most of my pain is in the neck and shoulder area. I have to really watch my posture with it.

Keep moving, that is good for you. Stretch whenever you can too.

I am glad that you have joined us. Check out fibro101. It is the second thread. It should have something about costo in it. I think that it is called costochronditis. I am not positive. Shows how much I know. lol... Fibrofog.

i was in emergency last week, I had horrific chest pain. I truely thought, it was a heart attack. The pain was like a red hot dagger just below the sternum, and a little to the right. They did the bloodwork, and an EKG and everything was "normal". The dooc sent me home with an excellent muscle relaxer, and a prescription for some kind of NSAID (supposedly for pain). I personally cannot take NSAIDS due to irritable bowel and stomach problems. It wasn't new to me, this pain, but never at this level Pain level 8-9. I think they gave me a shot of morphine in the butt, wjich knocked the pain out (along with me) for the night. I completed the course of muscle relaxer, 2 per day for five days. I feel better in that area but am still coming to terms with the pain of Fibro being ever present. It kinda puts a damper on "fun". I have to lay down everyday ay 4 PM, and usually get up to make dinner and washing up. Yjen back to bed. Anything I have to do, I have to do in the morning. Wish you luck.
