Where's the Beef?

So, on the way back from grocery shopping, I stopped at Burger King and ordered two burgers for the hubby that he asked me to get...hold the pickles and tomatoes.  I get them home, start to unpack the bags and he says "What's this?"  'Burgers!" I tell him.  He opened up the bun and there was no meat...just lettuce, onions, tomatoes and pickles.  Of course I KNOW he thinks I ordered them that way by mistake....NOT!  Plus, why would I order a hamburger...hold the hamburger!  I think on the assembly line they all had a fibro moment.  Plus you would have thought the cashier would have said, you want a burger with no meat???

I didn't do it...really.  I'm sure I didn't.  Probably.  I'm pretty sure.  Who eats burgers at ten thirty in the morning anyway...that's what I say.

Chutzie...when we take our dogs for a walk near the lake we sometimes stop at Wendy's for what we have called 'family day'.  The dogs respond to the words and get all excited...and if we pass the Wendy's and don't stop, Dylan actually cries.  They know us there...we order the dogs chicken nuggets, no sauce and a large water for them.  They even have dog bisquits for them.

I'm just going to tell Burger King about it the next time I drive by.  It's too far to go back and get the stupid meat!

spoiling dogs??? me??? Naw!!!  Years ago, before I knew better, I use to take my two Goldens through the drive through at McDonald's and get them an ice cream cone, to share. They were so cute, in the back seat, waiting patiently for the other one to take his turn licking it. I did, every so often, buy them a burger there too, but I'd give them the meat instead of the bread...Chutz, we'd make a good team! These days, I don't buy them fast food or me, for that matter. They eat better than most people, at least that is what my friends and family tell me. They are on a grain free, super premium kibble and I add organic pumpkin, for the fiber, fills their tummies and keeps their weight down. Also give them organic plan yoghurt for their coat and digestion. One of my Goldens has very bad allergies, he's the rescue, so I also add organic apple cider vinegar. Thankfully, I've been able to control his allergies with medications, by keeping him on a grain free diet, with the added organic foods. I need to get a second job to feed my dogs!!! be well

Donna, one time I got a chicken salad to go from Arby's and there was no chicken on it. I got a VIP card for a free meal. Diane

I eat very little fast food because of the salt...don't eat much meat either.  I always get a veggie sub at Subway when we decide to get fast food.  I guess I'm doing a no-no giving my dogs chicken nuggets...I can only imagine what's in them...ground up beaks and feet, poor things! But we only do it a couple of times a month.  I just think it's funny that they recognize the 'arches' and the Wendy's sign when we pass them.

K9...my grandfather was a Presbyterian minister too.  He never ate fast food in his life....lived to be 98 but would eat head cheese, some kind of kidney-thing and beef tongue.  Go figure.

I hope it's okay that I'm rambling on here about what to feed dogs...if not, please let me know. Puppylover...you can buy the super premium, grain free kibble at the big pet discount stores, you don't have to go to the boutiques. Yes, they are more expensive, but in the long run, it will end up costing you less, as I am sure you know, having had a Golden with problems. Allergies alone can cost you a bundle. I realize I made a mistake in my previous note, I left out the word "out"...yes, I am managing Benji's allergies without the use of medications. He has one bad month a year, in August well mid August to mid September and then I give him Benadryl but otherwise, I am very watchful of what he eats, NO GRAINS...and that includes his treats, chews, etc. It's really not difficult to do. They get cut up apples and cherry tomatoes for treats, or whatever fruit or veggie is in season.
So you have a 2 year old Golden...how on earth do you keep up with him/her??? The energy in these dogs is incredible! Mine are 6 and 7 and FINALLY calming down...a bit...
Donna...you must be doing a whole lot right, to have a Dalmation that is almost 18!!
I really can't take all the credit for what I feed them. Yes, I am doing it, but it was recommended to me from Benji's foster mom when we adopted him. She deserves most of the credit.

What's wrong with tongue? We raised our own beef and at butchering time mom would cook up the heart and tongue with some herbs and spices...pepper corns, bay leaves and a couple of other things. Then she'd trim them of the nasty edges, peal the tongue and run it all through the hand grinder. Mix with mayo, and we liked mustard also, and you have instant lunch meat. Sort of like those little cans they had/have of deviled meats, etc. Now head cheese and blood cheese... I DO have my limits...lol
