UGH! Is this a fibro thing????????

I've read this as being associated with the declining hormones in menopause. I get it, too, primarily on my scalp, face and torso. Creepy!

Hi Donna -- don't have a definite answer to your question, but my suspicion is that its another fibro thing...........I do this, too, although it comes and goes. I don't have it daily but it does "bug" (LOL) me often! Don't think you're losing your mind any worse than the rest of us fibromites.............seems to go with the territory............
Haven't found anything that relieves it, unfortunately. Hang in there, and hopefully it will go away for a while.

I get that too! Especially on my back, when I've been having more pain in my back than normal. Sometimes I'll think somethings crawling on my leg and I don't see nothing. I can't get to my back 'tickles' except for my back scratcher. It tickles enough you gotta scratch, but I got to be careful cuz it will hurt to scratch. Ya know, the bruise sensation. Hate it, drives me nuts!

Yep Sherrine is right..I have had a neurologist tell me it was a nerve thing (sending or receiving wrong signals) and it is also in Fibro books if you look it up...

No wonder we feel so fried all the time! lol

Sherrine, how does the collapsable back scratcher go over when you are at security in the airport?

I pack it in my check-through bag, Sue.  Then it goes in my purse when I arrive at my destination.  I do the same thing with my collapsable cane.  I tried putting it in my carry-on but they rummaged through the bag and treated me like I was a convict!  LOL 

I get pulled out all of the time.  I think it's because of the buckles on my Birkenstocks and the batteries in my hearing aids.  It has gotten to be a joke with my travel group.  The last time, I was supposed to be one of the first ones on the flight but, of course, was pulled out of line.  They went over me with a "fine-toothed comb" and when they were done, the entire jumbo jet was filled and waiting for me.  Everyone on the plane clapped when they finally let me on!     I, of course, had to take a bow!  LOL

I get it almost every day, the creepy-crawlies. I make sure to use (Aveeno/ non-itchy moisturizer) every day, and am getting pretty good at telling myself not to scratch in public or slap at myself like I'm swatting mosquitos! I'm doing it now! I have noticed, though, as soon as the creepy-crawlies pass, I immediately get tingling and numbness in that area. My hands and limbs and digits and even my butt will fall asleep. It's so weird and definitely feels like nerves.

When I take opiates I always itch, like many, but it is a markedly different kind of itch. It's not as mysterious, just a big old itch and feels great to scratch!

Wow, I get that too... I constantly feel like bugs are either crawling on me or biting me. I didn't even consider that it might be connected with fibro. I thought it was something to do with being in the South (don't ask me why I thought that). Since I don't take opiates, it can't be that. I dunno about menopause 'cause I had a partial hysterectomy in '01, but I'm 42, so it's a bit early for that (I think).

Actually, I don't care what causes it, I just wish it would go away!

Oh great now after reading all the replies to the feeling of something crawling you I am beginning to get that feeling on my back...seriously..

I get this sometimes too.  I also sometimes feel like someone is sticking a needle into one of my finger tips or the tip of one of my toes.  Occasionally I have also had the sensation that there is something stuck in my shoe or jabbing into my foot when there is not (which is incredibly annoying).  I always just assume it's the fibro.
