Lyrica update...

Yesterday my doctor got Lyrica approved through my insurance. This was a big deal because they first denied coverage for it, and at close to 500.00 dollars a bottle, well... you get the idea. I took samples all last week, and what a difference it makes for me. I do have dizziness, drowsiness, and a few other side effects, but to wake up for the first time in several years without feeling like I have been run over by a train makes the side effects bearable.

I know that others have had a hard time with Lyrica, but I want to encourage all of you who have tried other meds and not had them work to try the Lyrica. If it helps work hard to get yur insurance to cover it. I really think it could help some of yuo. Now, if I could oly get ride of the fatigue, sleepiness, and all those other wonderful Fibro problems!!!

Hi Marci,
Lyrica has been a godsend to me too. I am supposed to take 75mg 3X/day. But my dr. advised me to take one in the morning and two at night, so I will feel more drowsy and fall asleep easier. I started with just one at night, btw...then two...then the one in the morning.

I felt a bit "funny" when getting used to them, but they work great for me!

So glad the Lyrica was approved by your insurance.  I know how hard it can be without coverage for meds.  I'm glad you are feeling better too

There is no way I could afford $500 a bottle... that's ridiculous.

I would like to try Lyrica but my body is so sensitive to medications now.  I tried taking 10 MG of Prozac once and day and it caused heart palpitations... couldn't take it.  Not sure what is in Lyrica.... does it contain a anti-depressant?

When I can't sleep I take the generic form of Ambien.... it works great to help me sleep and I wake up feeling the best I will feel all day.  But as I've been up for an hour or so.... the pain sets in. 

Pfizer will give you Lyrica free of charge if you cannot afford it. To find out how, just call the company and the paperwork will be sent to you.

I have been using Lyrica for two years now and it has helped immensely. However, I was using 600mg per day and accidentally lowered the dosage to 300mg and still felt okay with less drowsiness. So I stayed on the lower dosage.
